Primary Responsibilities (2 vessels)
- Technical management of the assigned Multipurpose Heavy Lift vessels including drydocking.
- Methodical and systematic review of Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Reports to ensure proper technical running of vessels and identification of risks.
- Management of ‘Defect Lists’ aligned with ‘Requisition Trackers’ to have full control on vessel’s condition (Deck & Engine) including raising of new defects and closure of existing defects.
- Management of Inventory Management System (IMS) with Purchase department as a running system always updated for supply & consumption of relevant items ensuring all unusable spares / stores / deck materials are discarded/ disposed in line with disposal regulations keeping vessels clean of unusable items.
- Full management of Planned Maintenance System (PMS) with vessels to have full control on vessel’s condition (Deck and Engine), checking authenticity of tasks completed and adherence to PMS schedules.
- Management of shore-based requirements in accordance with ‘Defect Lists’ and to maintain a record of all Shore Service Reports for services carried out on vessels.
- Carry out sailing visits / vessel inspections to ensure accuracy of Defect List and raising new defects, quality of closed defects, IMS, PMS, Accommodation upkeep, HSE and SMS. Identify competency of engineers and officers during the visits. Prepare Inspection reports capturing the status of the vessel after the visit.
- Carry out technical interviews / evaluations for all engineers in the fleet ensuring the right quality and experience. Carry out briefings for sea staff visiting the office to ensure their familiarity with the company procedures, ongoing initiatives, and accidents / learnings from the fleet. Carry out sea staff evaluations during all interactions with the vessel and feedback to crewing department.
- Liaise with Class for arranging annual and periodical surveys.
- Liaise with makers as required on troubleshooting technical problems & advising vessels accordingly.
- Liaise with HSE / Crewing / Accounts Department for smooth operation of vessels.
Requirements
- Shore experience as Technical Superintendent minimum 3 years with extensive experience in working with 4 stroke Engines. All vessels have 4 stroke Main Engines and hence extensive experience of working with 4 stroke Main Engines is essential.
- Experience with heavy lift vessels preferable.
- Sailing experience as Chief Engineer of minimum 3 years on board foreign going vessels
- Diligent, self-starter, independent and result oriented individual.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer knowledge
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Systematic, methodical, organized & attentive to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills
