Job Description
- Scope of Work: NPI (New Product Introduction) and mass production’s packaging solution for assigned product (piece part, module, sub-assembly, and instrument level) across various product lines.
- Packaging solutions for NPI and current production continuous improvement: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, manufacturing, product support and quality, to discuss parts/kits/products packaging specifications and requirement; to create effective packaging solutions. Design & improve packaging to meet cost and quality objectives, obsolescence, and customer requirements.
- Evaluating market trends and analysing similar packaging designs, sustainability consideration & best volumetric packaging design which meets the handling, transportation, and environmental need.
- Research and Analysis: Research and analyse materials and packaging solutions to determine the most suitable options for specific products. analysing similar packaging designs with current standards (exploring standardization and unifying design). Identifying suitable packaging materials and conducting feasibility studies.
- Design and Development: Create packaging solutions that protect products during storage, transportation, and usage. This includes considering factors such as customer requirements, cost optimization, durability during shipping, environmental impact, and compliance with safety regulations. Partners with procurement, external vendors, and customers to improve/sustain packaging to meet production timelines, quality policies, and customer expectations. Ensure manufacturability and conformance with the global supply chain, enabling prototyping, testing the reliability of prototypes, scale-up, and managing the transition into production.
- Prototyping: Design and test prototypes to ensure they meet the needs of the product and customer. Complete design in appropriate design software and collaborate with suppliers for samples fabrication. Work with suppliers to clarify specifications to meet quality, cost, delivery and manufacturability goals of part/kit/products packaging. Identifies and qualifies alternative packaging materials when needed.
- Performance Testing: Conducting packaging performance tests ensures that the packaging can withstand the stresses of transportation and storage. May be required to use continuous improvement methodologies and understand quality regulations related to the life science industry.
- Continuous Improvement: Identifying areas for improvement in packaging solutions is essential to enhance product safety and marketability.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensuring that packaging materials are environmentally sustainable and comply with regulations is part of your responsibility.
- Packaging Quality Improvement & Cost Optimization: Lead cross functional team to drive continuous packaging quality performance improvement i.e. Packaging parts yield, DEFOA and cost optimization. Regional sourcing to continually optimize packaging and logistic cost align to business context.
- Other tasks and responsibilities assigned by manager in support of business needs.0
