The National University of Singapore is seeking a highly motivated candidate as a Visiting Professor for Mind Science Centre in the Department of Psychological Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Yeo Boon Khim Mind Science Centre has been driving translational research in mind health and developing community interventions to enhance emotional resilience and optimize cognitive performance, across life trajectory, to build an undefeated mind. Innovating mind health with biology and social science, the research areas focus on population mental and social health integrative therapeutics in active ageing and optimising human potential, digital mental health and environmental effects on mental health.

Purpose of the post
The Visiting Professor will work closely with the MSC Centre Director and Principal Investigators, study team members and industry partners to drive integrative research efforts and grant applications, across multiple disciplines and institutions and facilitates industry engagement and collaboration. The candidate is also expected to contribute to curriculum design and teaching/supervision activities related to mental health.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Visiting Professor Fellow is expected to:
- Leadership role in coordination of flagship research programs, activities including mentoring of junior researchers;
- Develop strategic research direction in support of MSC’s vision and mission;
- Apply for competitive and philanthropic research grants with cross-faculty Principal Investigators and co-Investigators;
- Strengthen and expand existing research programs and collaborations. Work closely with Principal Investigator and collaborators to identify partners and develop community interventions and program evaluation;
- Publish of high-impact academic quality research articles and conference proceedings, in accordance to NUS’ publication guidelines; and
- Curriculum design and teaching;
- Graduate student supervision and mentorship; and
- Growing MSC’s network through outreach to professional bodies and affiliated institutions.
Qualifications
The applicant should:
- Hold a medical degree or PhD in Psychological studies, Biological Sciences, Neuroscience or related disciplines with strong research background;
- Experienced in developing and delivering a research strategy and lead independent research studies at national or international level;
- Demonstrated ability to generate and maintain an independent stream of research funding;
- Experienced in statistical analysis and grant writing / management is required;
- Have an outstanding track record of international high-impact publications;
- Experienced in designing and teaching courses at graduate levels; and
- Experienced in supervising graduate students, including PhDs to successful completion.
Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
