Job Summary

  • Responsible for developing and executing on the Team Vision together with the other Team Leads
  • Drive technology strategy, technology stack selection, and implementation for a future-ready technology stack, to achieve outcomes of highly scalable, robust, resilient system.
  • Experienced former practitioner with leadership ability.
  • Oversees the execution of functional standards and best practices
  • Provide thought leadership on the craft, inspire and retain talents by developing and nurturing an extensive internal and external network of practitioners.
  • This role is around capability building, it is not to own applications or delivery
  • Creates a strategy roadmap of technical work
  • Works to drive technology convergence and simplification across their team area
  • Design, implement, and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure components, including servers, networks, and storage resources.
  • Build, configure, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software build, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Implement and manage version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD (ADO).
  • Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate containerized workloads using Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or similar tools.
  • Optimize containerized deployments for scalability, performance, and resource efficiency.
  • Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track system performance, availability, and security.
  • Configure and manage monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), or similar.
  • Implement security best practices and compliance requirements for infrastructure and applications.
  • Perform security assessments, vulnerability scans, and security audits, and implement remediation actions as needed.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure and services on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Optimize cloud resources for cost efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and other cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize workflows, and drive process improvements.
  • Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and maintain system documentation.

  • Foster a design engineering excellence culture through leadership and direction.
  • Thought Leadership, evangelism, on the competitive landscape and market trends to make informed product decisions.
  • Keep the long-term vision of the product in mind while addressing short-term goals and milestones. Continuously evaluate the app's performance and user engagement metrics to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Develop apps with scalability and performance in mind. Anticipate future growth and ensure that the app architecture and codebase can accommodate it
  • Build an engineering and system thinking mindset with values such as fast feedback, repeatability, simplicity, and clean code.​​​​​​​
  • Drive a modern approach to engineering excellence, ensuring fast, frequent, and high-quality value delivery.
  • Empower the engineers within the subdomain with the right tools and practice to improve SDLC process efficiency - with focus on quality assurance, developer experiences, automation, and performance engineering, with speed, scalability, and stability in mind.
  • Enforce and streamline sound development practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective governance processes including training, advice, and support, to assure the classic pay product is developed, implemented, and maintained aligning with the Group’s standards

  • Adopt and embed the Change Delivery Standards throughout the lifecycle of the product / service.
  • Ensure role, job descriptions and expectations are clearly set and periodic feedback provided to the Team leads
  • Ensures the establishment of capability development systems across the Team area, measuring and tracking the improvement of their Team area members as well as Team leads
  • Define standards to ensure that applications are designed with scale, resilience and performance in mind
  • Enforce and streamline sound development practices and establish and maintain effective governance processes including training, advice and support, to assure the platforms are developed, implemented and maintained aligning with the Group’s standards
  • Responsible for overall governance of the subdomain that includes financial management, risk management, representation in steering committee reviews and engagement with business for strategy, change management and timely course correction as required
  • Ensure compliance to the highest standards of business conduct, regulatory requirements and practices defined by internal and external requirements. This includes compliance with local banking laws and anti-money laundering stipulations

People & Talent

  • Accountable for people management and capability development of their Team members.
  • Reviews metrics on capabilities and performance across all of the Teams in their area, has improvement backlog for their Teams and drives continual improvement of Teams.
  • Ensure that the organisation works in a proactive way to upgrade capacity well in advance and predict future capacity needs
  • Responsible for building an engineering culture where application and infrastructure scalability is paramount for on-going capacity management with an aim to reduce the need for capacity reviews using monitoring and auto-scale properties
  • Empower the engineers so that they can provide economy of scale focused on delivering value, speed to market, availability, monitoring & system management
  • Foster a culture of innovation, transparency, and accountability end to end in the subdomain while promoting a “business-first” mentality at all levels
  • Develop and maintain a plan that provides for succession and continuity in the most critical delivery and management position

Risk Management

  • Responsible for effective capacity risk management across the Team Area with regards to attrition and leave plans
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Ensure that the organisation works in a proactive way to upgrade capacity well in advance and predict future capacity needs
  • Responsible for building an engineering culture where application and infrastructure scalability is paramount for on-going capacity management with an aim to reduce the need for capacity reviews using monitoring and auto-scale properties
  • Empower the engineers so that they can provide economy of scale focused on delivering value, speed to market, availability, monitoring & system management
  • Foster a culture of innovation, transparency, and accountability end to end in the subdomain while promoting a “business-first” mentality at all levels

Our Idea Candidate

  • 15+ years of experience in Technology Leadership Roles.
  • Experience in global diverse organisation in building overall capability and technical expertise
  • Experience in industry bench marking for technical skills
  • Ability to articulate the overall vision for the Chapters / Teams and ensure upskilling of the organisation holistically
  • Experience in identifying skill gaps and mitigate risks to deliverables
  • Ensure all solutions are as per Architecture Standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in a DevOps or related role, with a focus on infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong scripting and programming skills, with proficiency in languages such as Python, Shell, or Ruby.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
  • Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience managing cloud infrastructure using cloud provider APIs and CLI tools.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) are a plus.
