Static Equipment Integrity Technician ( 2 years contract )

Job Description:


  • Responsible for planning and execution of the inspections activities of static equipment and piping systems from MODEC units, ensuring the safety operational and equipment availability in compliance with legislation, internal procedures and market good practices.
  • To carry out inspection activities of static equipment and piping systems, including the assessment of deterioration rates and damage on equipment, in order to ensure their safe and efficient functioning in the unit, in accordance with NR-13 requirements, thus contributing to the production and revenue target achievement.
  • Ensure compliance with NR-13 regulations, as well as MODEC's philosophy, guidelines and standards by approving or rejecting the equipment condition, generating inspection results, carrying out and monitoring the implementation of the equipment inspection plans, observing the items to be inspected, the inspection procedures, the inspection frequency and sampling, the retention points, the criteria for approval and rejection, corrosion rates and remaining life.
  • Ensure the proper traceability of all static equipment inspections, by recording the results in the inspection management system and issuing the required inspection registers, as well as generating, validating and monitoring inspection recommendations in the CMMS.
  • Participate in the subsequent analyses of static equipment integrity, by performing or following up the collection of samples and materials for analysis purposes.
  • Ensure that all inspection equipment and instruments are properly calibrated, by keeping up all required controls, records and checklists.
  • Act proactively to safeguarding MODEC from noncompliance to legal/regulatory requirements by following or ensuring 3rd parties follow MODEC's procedures, internal and external regulations, national and international standards when performing or witnessing testing, tests, exams, controls, treatments and monitoring related to Static Equipment.
  • Assure the quality of maintenance, production, construction and assembly activities related to Static Equipment, done by core crew or 3rd party employees, performing the quality control of works in the unit, highlighting any abnormality on the proper system, in accordance with MODEC's procedures, manufacturer recommendations and national/international regulations.
  • Contribute to the proper record of static equipment and piping systems on the company's archive, by preparing or updating the inspection isometric drawings of the piping systems and sketch of equipment.
  • Support the unit's annual budget planning (expenses and investments), when required, by providing to the Supervisor information about resources, replacements, services and materials needs and other expenses used in its activities.
  • Contribute in emergency situations, or emergency drills, according to function attributed inside the Emergency response plan, participating in all trainings, simulations and acting properly in a real situation, in accordance with MODEC's procedures, guidelines, as well as national and international regulations.
  • Contribute to the MODEC’s Permit to Work management systems' implementation, by acting as originator of PTWs and Perform Authority for inspection works, ensuring the correct isolation of equipment and machinery, guaranteeing all core crew and vendors working on inspection activities are properly trained and certified, in accordance with MODEC procedures, and attending, when requested, internal or external audits.
  • Contribute to the proper planning of offshore activities by supporting Planner Offshore and supervisor in the prioritization and scheduling of services to be performed onboard, participating in discussions along with other Offshore leaderships, when requested, and duly approving all WOs for Inspection works on the CMMS.
  • Communicate to the supervisor all critical machinery and equipment deficiencies, request technical advice as necessary and prepare, follow up and close out any necessary vendor assistance on board for the Integrity department, in liaison with relevant leaderships.
  • Closely communicate with onshore Static Integrity department, including the Qualified Professional (PH), providing any information required regarding the unit's offshore reality, sharing inspection reports, supporting on offshore surveys.

  • HSSE: Act in compliance with the corporate HSSEQ Management System Policy, the MODEC Life Saving Rules, and the policies, guides, process standards and work instructions available in the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Act to promote the preservation of the environment, the health and occupational safety (personnel and their team), the safety of processes, and the preservation of assets in their scale of responsibility.
  • Ethics and Compliance: In compliance with the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, as well as with MODEC Group Ethics and Compliance Policies and Local Procedures, their respective forms, online and live mandatory trainings: is committed to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and obligations and act in accordance with the highest ethical standards and with MODEC values.
  • Emergency Plan: As per indication on the Training Matrix, Emergency Management Guide and Offshore Emergency Management, available in the Integrated Management System (IMS).

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Technical Degree is required, preferably in Mechanic
  • Previous offshore experience in the Oil and Gas sector is an advantage.
  • Previous experience with Equipment Inspection, UTM and Liquid Penetrant Testing is required.
  • Experience with standards and codes API 510, API 570, API RP 574 and other non-destructive techniques is expected.
