- Regularly update and upgrade software dependencies, libraries, and frameworks.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential obsolescence issues and their impact on business operations.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all software systems, including design documents, code comments, and usage instructions.
- Monitor vendor roadmaps and end-of-life (EOL) policies to plan timely upgrades and replacements.
- Install, configure, and maintain AIX operating systems on supported hardware.
- Regularly upgrade to the latest supported version of AIX and apply security patches.
- Monitor system performance using built-in AIX tools like topas, nmon, and vmstat.
- Ensure data integrity and availability through robust backup and recovery procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AIX systems and applications.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for routine tasks, updates, and monitoring.
- Implement configuration management tools to ensure consistency across AIX environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on obsolescence management and AIX systems.
- Proficiency in managing AIX operating systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of software lifecycle management, risk assessment, and contingency planning.
- Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning for AIX systems.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation.
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Required certifications – AWS Certified, SCSA, SCSECA
