The Asian Communication Research Centre (ACRC) in the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) is looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Assistant, who is interested to investigate cultural perceptions of skin tones and aesthetic preferences in the Philippines and Indonesia, which can be used to improve AI camera optimization for smartphones to achieve higher degrees of digital inclusiveness.

The candidate will support the planning and execution of various research grants, and will work closely with the Lead Investigator on quantitative and qualitative research related to AL camera optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating and running research projects
  • Work closely with collaborators and third-party service providers in conducting the projects
  • Handle daily operational, administrative, and logistics duties related to the research projects
  • Conduct and organise project meetings
  • Conduct and interpret qualitative and quantitative data analyses for projects and journal publications
  • Actively contribute to the preparation of manuscript drafts for peer-reviewed journals
  • Undertake any additional project duties as required by the supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, psychology, business administration, public health, or any related social science disciplines
  • Experience in scientific writing through publications in public health or social sciences literature. Final year dissertations/theses will also be accepted as writing samples.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis using relevant analysis software (e.g., NVIVO, SPSS, AMOS) will be preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills especially in English Language and Bahasa Indonesia or Tagalog are essential for conducting research and data analysis
  • Highly motivated and willing to work independently in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Interest in developing a research career
