About the Job
We are seeking a talented BI Analyst to join our Global Data & Analytics team. As a BI Analyst, you will play a key role in translating complex business requirements into effective technological solutions in collaboration with Data Engineers. Leveraging Microsoft Power BI and working with external consultants, you will convert these requirements into precise, actionable insights through advanced reports and dashboards. Your efforts will be crucial in driving business decisions by delivering transparency and actionable data.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Requirement Analysis: Regularly interact with Product Owners to define and refine key business questions, then transform these into comprehensive data and analytics requirements.
- Solution Design and Development: Utilize Power BI to design, develop, and maintain impactful reports and dashboards that encapsulate business metrics in a clear and digestible manner, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions.
- Consultant Coordination: Work closely with external consultants, steering their efforts and reviewing their work to ensure the BI solutions developed meet our high standards of practicality, reliability, and alignment with business objectives.
- Quality Assurance and UAT: Conduct thorough testing and validation of BI tools and systems to ensure the highest levels of consistency, efficiency, and accuracy. Lead and support User Acceptance Testing to confirm that the developed solutions meet or exceed the business requirements and user expectations.
- Training and Support: Drive the ongoing training and development sessions for end-users, enhancing their understanding and effective utilization of new reports and dashboards. Provide continuous support and maintenance of BI solutions, improving functionality and user experience as business needs evolve.
- Technical Specification Development: Liaise with Product Owners to capture detailed business needs, translating them into technical specifications including new fields, measures, dimensions, and facts required for comprehensive analytics.
Qualification & Experience
- Min Bachelor in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong foundation in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
- Proven track record as a BI Analyst (min 5 years), demonstrating the ability to translate business requirements into non-technical terms and develop data models that provide meaningful insights.
Key Skills / Core Competencies
- Language Skills: Proficiency in both English and Japanese at a business negotiation level is required for this position as this role is supporting the Japanese product owners in our Japan office. Multilingual capabilities (German, French, Japanese or Mandarin) are added advantage.
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with BI tools, particularly Microsoft Power BI. Proficient in data warehousing and SQL. Capable of handling complex data modeling tasks.
- Business Process knowledge: Strong experience and knowledge of business processes. Ability to orient and weigh in on solution considering data requirements, best practices, business process needs and data sourcing. Experience in high technology, life science or industrial manufacturing processes is an asset.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, able to clearly convey complex data insights and technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
- Additional Skills: Business requirements management expertise.
