As the Senior Portfolio Manager, reporting to the Head of Portfolio – Robot (based in Singapore), you will be accountable for the Robot category cycle plan from early phase concept start to post SOP – the full lifespan of each product. Working with counterparts from across the Home Business Unit and wider Dyson, you will ensure that we have a compelling Robot offering that delivers against consumer needs, with a cadence and pace to have impact in our various markets around the world.
To realise this vision, you will need to partner across Dyson, and be a key interface for Upstream, Engineering, Operations and the wider Home Business Unit – especially as the business reconsiders the Dyson Delivery Model. In this environment, clear and considered commercial need and strategic value understanding are critical to guide the business.
This role is based in Singapore to enable proximity to both key markets as well as development partners.
About the role
- In partnership with the Head of Portfolio – Robot, you will be responsible for the formation and articulation of the Robot strategy.
- Accountable for the Robot portfolio plan – covering the full lifecycle of what sits within the range. Owns the product attribute leadership strategy. Outlines price points, target launch dates, key product features and specification, claims intent, as well as initial proposition messaging.
- Collaborates across the BU and engineering teams to outline priorities and respond to project delivery risks.
- In partnership with Finance, owns and shapes all BU business case and investment recommendations related to the Robot category.
- Owns the long-term volume forecasting for the Robot category within the Home BU.
- A key interface with Upstream, providing market context, data and insight to shape internal Robot development activities. A strong link with the Competitor Team on this fast paced category is critical. A strong partner to downstream and operations in specifying the Home BU’s requirements for both internal and external development routes.
- Delivers a clear narrative on how to win within the Robot category, is responsible for Robot strategy – including insights commissioning, and translates this strategy into a deliverable plan in partnership with the Business Operations team.
- Provide key category strategy /product assessments for Head of Portfolio – Robot and the Home leadership to communicate upward to Exec and Board in relation to the Robot category.
- Representative for the Home BU in key forums such as Dyson Design Reviews (DDR’s) and financial reviews related to Robot, especially where product and category strategy is under review.
About you
- Communication - ability to convey complex issues concisely and accurately across all RDD levels and translate these into clear actions.
- Commercial awareness – experience and understanding of product ranging, business cases and portfolio management.
- Excellent senior stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence across departments and competing stakeholder needs.
- Experience in large scale financial management, budgeting and appraisal skills.
- Has ability to manage varied and complex priorities and timescales.
- Entrepreneurial flair with a drive for business results. Commercially and financially astute with sound business judgement.
- A strong people leader with a visible and inspiring leadership style. Able to recruit, grow and develop people into a high performing team, driving hearts and minds, accountability and direction.
