Global Planning Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Global Planning/Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the global business unit’s planning functions and planning / inventory specific IT needs in the various Jabil sites where the business unit manufactures product. This position includes responsibility for Inventory Control functions (to be defined and documented within the business unit).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Understand and participate in the development and deployment of materials strategies appropriate to the business unit, in concert with the Global Business Unit Materials Manager and the Business Unit Manager(s) / Director.

· Collaborate with Jabil’s Operations Team to develop advanced planning solutions that improve Jabil’s performance and service levels and meet the customer’s needs.

· Effectively present Jabil Planning processes initiatives and strengths to the customer.

· Lead and provide strategic direction to the materials team in the business unit.

· Identify individual and team strengths and development needs including light, specific training on an ongoing basis.

· Coach and mentor the Planning and Inventory Control staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.

· Ensure that the Master Production Schedule {MPS) at every site is loaded in alignment with customer contract(s), liability agreements and internal revenue forecasts so that the materials team maintains conformance to Jabil’s “Rules of the Road.” In developing a solid MPS, consideration must be given to materials availability, equipment capability/capacity and staffing.

· Drive a systematic process to receive, evaluate and fulfill customer demand across the business unit.

· Ensure the execution and deployment of Jabil’s standard planning strategies and systems where possible, and implement customized solutions where necessary.

· Manage the overall demand plan and capacity analysis for the business unit.

· Balance both strategic and tactical capacity projections across manufacturing sites as required.

· Develop and supervise solid product launch plans for new business, and transfer plans for products being moved between Jabil manufacturing sites.

· Ensure continuity of product supply to the Jabil manufacturing site(s), and of finished goods to the customer throughout the transfer timeframe.

· Oversee the disposition and transfer of residual inventory to the appropriate “receiving” Jabil factory.

· Participate in Jabil’s monthly forecast cycle with BUM and Operations Management as required.

· Support GBUMM and Business Unit Management in customer meetings, presentations and audits.

· Demonstrate a commitment to customer service.

· Anticipate, meet and/or exceed customer expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively.

· Make customer issues via e-mail, phone calls, etc., a priority.

· Support off hours availability when applicable.

· Demonstrate effective leadership and cooperation with the materials team in the business unit and the functional management within the factories where the business unit operates.

· Serve as an escalation point for the customer and workcell materials employees, as required.

· Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.

· Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.

· Participate in employee performance evaluations as requested by Plant Materials Management

· Design, generate and analyze inventory reports for internal business unit and / or customer use.

· Recommend process and supply chain initiatives to lower inventory costs (hubbing, JIT, optimum manufacturing lot sizes, alternate transportation methodologies, etc.)

· Understand the industry in which the customer resides. Understand the requirements for flexibility, cost and quality that will be needed by the customer.

· Continually improve efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness of the planning function to help drive down the cost of materials management within the business unit.

· Define and monitor key performance metrics.

· Establish and grow internal and external relationships throughout multiple business levels of the account (Buyers, Planners, Managers, Directors and others)

· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

· Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

· Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

· Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations and industry.

· Strong proficiency in determining logistics requirements to enable company’s business goals and objectives with ability to devise and implement strategy to achieve targets.

· Strong financial and analytical ability. Proficiency in managing business analytics to determine optimum company footprint.

· Strong knowledge of international direct and indirect taxes as well as global customs regimes.

· Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous productivity and cost reduction programs.

· Strong and convincing communication skills.

· Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Materials Logistics Management, or related discipline

· Three years planning related experience, in an EMS or similar environment.

· Domestic and international travel is required.

· Or a combination of education, experience and/or training.
