Job Description & Requirements

We are looking for a responsible and responsive shipping professional as Manager, Shipping Operations Dept. to lead the Shipping Ops Team and ensure safe operations of a dry bulk fleet.


Job Description:

Ø To ensure safe and smooth day-to-day operations of vessels chartered in as well as our own vessels.

Ø To coordinate with the Ship Chartering Team for selecting appropriate vessels from the market, calculating cargo intakes, maximizing stowage, issuing instructions to on-board masters/captains and appointing shipping agents as per operations procedure and company policies.

Ø In charge of bunkering arrangement, monitoring voyage performances of vessels.

Ø To evaluate vessels, estimate voyage duration and cargo intakes.

Ø To provide the updated port information and congestion, including highlighting any possibilities of loss in terms of time or efficiency.

Ø To appoint shipping agents and work with them in respect of issuance, release and collection of Bills of Lading in accordance with operations procedure and company policies.

Ø To liaise with on-board masters/captains on voyage performance, cargo intakes, cargo operations reports and vessel safety issues.

Ø To ensure that voyages are executed and performed as per Charter Parties and on a timely basis, using the shortest safe route.

Ø To ensure that cargo operations are completed within the shortest possible time, and that vessel cargo hold space or deadweight is utilized to the maximum.

Ø To follow up with various parties on relevant documentation and settlements, including Bills of Lading, Letters of Indemnity, statement of fact, voyage logs, port disbursements and to deal with claims from counterparties.

Ø To maintain periodical liaison with Technical Ship Management Companies to ensure safe operations of fleets.


Qualifications:

Ø Bachelor’s degree with majors in Maritime, Navigation, etc.

Ø A retired veteran Captain of large dry bulker vessels or product tankers.

Ø At least 5 years of hands-on experience of shipping operations, preferably in the dry bulk sector or product tanker sector.

Ø Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Ø Sound communicational skills are required, especially with ship owners, cargo owners, P&I clubs, agents, etc.

Ø Strong leadership and coaching skills.

Ø Capability to work under pressure.

Ø Self-motived and a good team leader.

Ø Salary: Negotiable.

Ø Employment Type: Full time, Permanent.

Ø Career level: Medium level.
