Food Science Lab Assistant

Role:

This is a full-time, onsite, Food Science Lab Assistant Role in MOE Secondary School. If you are selected,

You will work closely with the NFS Teachers & supervisor, HODs in an MOE Secondary school (Nearest MRT : Bishan MRT) in the day-to-day activities.

Responsibilities:

1.Practical Lesson Preparation

• Assist teacher in the preparation of ingredients prior to the start of the practical lessons.
• Assist teacher in placing order for foodstuff and ingredients
• Assist in the setting up and cleaning of food lab equipment and utensils

2.Stock Check

• Replace broken glassware from stock and be responsible for all equipment used in the teaching of Food & Consumer Education / Nutrition Food Science Practical Lessons.
• Keep a stock book / excel stock sheet and breakage record to indicate necessary replacements
• Prepare an inventory of stocks annually for the annual stock take exercise

3.Cleaning and Maintenance

• Maintain and upkeep food lab equipment including stoves, ovens and other cooking equipment
• Responsible for the general cleanliness and safety of the food lab

4.Student Supervision

• Supervise students in the food lab during the absence of the teacher (e.g. emergency toilet break)

5.Admin Duties

• Ensure goods delivered are as per order
• Help to keep notice board up to date (Use Microsoft word to create new signs and labels)
• During School holidays and curriculum downtime, the personnel may be asked to help out with any other duties as and when assigned.
• In the event of downtime during the FCE curriculum, The Food Lab Technician will be deployed to assist in the General Office or any other areas required.
• Any other duties as and when assigned by the teachers/HOD.

Job Requirements:

• Secondary School Education
• 1year of experience in School’s Food Laboratory duties
• Has knowledge in using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc

Summary:

Contract Period: From 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2025

Working hours:

The Food Lab Technician is required to work a 42-hour work week.

• Mondays to Thursdays: 7:00am to 4:00pm, inclusive of 0.5 hr lunch break
• Fridays: 7:00am to 3:30pm, inclusive of 0.5hr lunch break
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
