Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Medicine (Primary) and Department of Paediatrics (Secondary), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Department of Psychological Medicine is committed to teaching and psychiatric research especially in areas such as Ageing, Complex Mood Disorders, and Early Life. Appointments will be made on a 5-year contract basis with the possibility of extension based on performance and provided funding is available.

Purpose of the post

The Department is looking to further strengthen its research expertise and collaborative endeavors with regards to child well-being. The Research Associate Professor will have a track-record of research focused on the interplay between caregiving behavior and family relationships, cognitive functioning, psychological well-being, and child development– including social and biological influences. Furthermore, the Research Associate Professor should be familiar with the local landscape and have a history of leading collaborative interdisciplinary projects.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Associate Professor’s primary job scope will be to lead and/or conduct research related to his/her area of expertise (see above). The Research Associate Professor may also teach courses or classes, mentor PhD and Master’s students, and contribute to additional projects.

Qualifications

The applicant should have:

  1. A PhD in psychology or psychiatry from a top-ranked (e.g., top 5) relevant department.
  2. Postdoctoral/research fellowship experience from a top ranked medical school, with preference for applicants who have had postdoctoral experience in both psychiatric and paediatric departments.
  3. At least 15 years of work experience in a Research Institute and/or University setting, including management positions (e.g., Head, Director, Deputy Director, etc.)
  4. Currently employed at an Associate (Research) Professor (or similar) level.
  5. Significant track-record of securing research funding (e.g., from MOE, HHP, etc.).
  6. Publications in top-ranked journals within the fields of expertise.
  7. Experience working within and leading large scale collaborations.
  8. Knowledge of the local landscape.
