The candidate for this role is expected to be passionate about working with huge datasets and have experience working with businesses to build data products and services to turn data into insights using advanced analytics.
The ideal candidate will spend approximately 60% of their time on Tableau-related tasks and the remaining 40% on core data engineering responsibilities.
The Tableau responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports, optimizing them for performance and usability, and conducting training sessions to empower business users with Tableau best practices.
Additionally, the candidate should have a strategic and long-term view on architecting data ecosystems and experience with curating data for analytics and AI. They should be skilled in building efficient and scalable data services and integrating data systems with relevant tools and services to support various customer use cases and applications.
The candidate will work closely with business units, the data analytics team, and the technical team (network, source system IT support).
Key Responsibilities
Tableau Visualisation (60%)
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards and reports to support business decision-making.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data visualization needs and translate them into effective Tableau solutions.
- Optimize and enhance existing Tableau dashboards for performance and usability.
- Conduct training sessions and provide support to business users on Tableau best practices.
Data Engineering (40%)
- Develop and maintain ETL processs to ensure efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Work with large datasets to perform data cleaning, data wrangling, and data integration.
- Implement and manage data pipelines to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across various data sources and systems.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to provide data support for advanced analytics projects.
Supporting Activities
- Working internally with business units to identify opportunities for enhancements in data management capabilities, and work with relevant stakeholders to address operational or data issues in the data pipeline.
- Ensure data management processes comply with established framework and policies.
- Develop a good understanding of existing solutions and be able to support and enhance them.
- Maintain good documentation of the solutions and effectively communicate to stakeholders about the value-add.
- Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modelling.
Qualification & Work Experience
- Recognized degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Statistic, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience / proven experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on Tableau visualization.
- Proficiency in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with SQL.
- Experience with ETL tools and processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, PySpark, SQL, APIs.
- Familiarity with other data visualization tools.
