Head of Audit, People, Planning, Delivery & Insight

Job Summary

The Head of Audit, People, Planning, Delivery & Insight (hereafter referred to as the "Head, PPDI") is accountable to the Chief Operating Officer, Audit (COO) for the end-to-end design and delivery of:

· The GIA approach to the Audit Universe, Risk Assessment and Audit Planning methodology and process;

· Reporting to the Group Risk Committee and Board Audit Committee;

· MI and Insight to measure and support audit performance; and

· GIAs People Strategy

The Head, PPDI leads a global team of Audit and Non-Audit professionals within GIA, to set the tone and help drive operational quality and efficiency of the Function. The Head, PPDI, supports the delivery of the strategy and development of the broader GIA function through providing insights and recommendations to the GHOA and Audit Executive Team (“AET”) for improving the function's strategic approach and contributing to process improvements.

Strategy

· Design and deliver the Group's approach and strategies covering the Audit Universe, Risk Assessment and Audit Planning methodology and processes within GIA, with the aim of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of GIAs coverage across the Group

· Perform a comprehensive and insightful MI analysis of GIAs financial and non-financial performance to inform enable effective management of the function by the GHoA and their Audit Executive Team

· Develop and deliver the People Strategy for the function

· To take the lead in continuously improving the GIA’s processes and products and driving efficiency across the function

· Maintain an external focus including a strong network within the industry to identify trends in Audit functions which the role holder should assess and apply to GIA to improve the function’s deliverables to the organization and benchmark GIA’s approach with global best practices

· Ensure a strong awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and model is understood in the PPDI team and reflected in our approach as appropriate

Business

· Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates

· Accountable for ensuring the delivery of the strategy for GIA through building and leading a team of experienced Audit and Non-Audit professionals

· Ensuring flexibility in the COO approach to meet the evolving requirements of the risks associated with the audit universe

· Ensuring timely, effective, and impactful written and verbal communication with key stakeholders

Processes

· The role holder is responsible for ensuring that GIAs Audit Universe, Risk Assessment and Audit Planning processes are aligned to the GIA strategy

· Continuously enhance the Audit Universe, Risk Assessment and Audit Planning methodology and practices, keeping abreast of internal audit practises through research and participation in the industry internal audit forum

· Develop and implement solutions that enhance the audit practice, embedding the changes in the function

· Through increased awareness and engagement of staff in and participation in training, deliver and uplift the quality of audit work performed in the Audit function.

· Prompt communication of the impact of QA work to GIA and wider stakeholders, as relevant

People & Talent

· Develop and deliver the People Strategy for GIA, embedding principles and frameworks to help GIA achieve a world leading audit experience for its people

· In partnership with the Global HRBP for GIA and alongside GIA AET, set the tone for leadership across the GIA function

· Build and lead a high-quality team of impactful Audit and Non-Audit professionals

· Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and valued behaviours. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners

· Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks

· Employ, engage, and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles

· Review team structure and capacity plans

· Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for the PPDI team, provide feedback and rewards in line with staff performance against their responsibilities and objectives

· Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values according to Bank’s Priorities/Strategy

· To promote diversity at all levels

Risk Management

· Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them

Governance

· Experience and understanding in helping firms meet the requirements of the UK Corporate Governance Code

· Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates

· Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with local and Group regulators in an open and cooperative manner

· Embed the Group’s values and Code of Conduct in Group Internal Audit to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes, and regulations among employees’ form part of the culture

Regulatory & Business Conduct

· Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct

· Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct

· Lead the GIA QA/PP team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles; The Right Environment; Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Prevention

· Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters

· PRA/FCA (and other relevant Regulators) prescribed responsibilities and rationale for allocation

· Chair of Audit Committee and other Board members as relevant

· Audit Committee

· The Audit Executive Team (excl. COO and GHOA) - Based in HK (1), Singapore (3) and UK (1)

· GHoA (UK)

Other Responsibilities

· Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in PPDI Audit Team

· Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures

Our Ideal Candidate

· 12+ years of relevant experience in either external or internal audit ideally in a financial institution

· Commercially minded with significant experience in developing business and people related strategies with a track record of achieve financial and non-financial targets

· Highly analytical and data savvy, able to tell compelling stories using data and visualizations to enable effective decisions to be made clearly and concisely

· Strong leadership qualities, interpersonal and people management skills with experience in managing a large cross-border team

· Strong communicator, both written and verbal, with ability to influence and to gain the respect of senior management, Group stakeholders, peers, and their teams

· Strong sense of integrity and financial independence with an ability to challenge

· Confident and courageous to raise / escalate issues in a pro-active, professional, and timely manner

· Highly credible with their counterparts in the business

· Understanding of regulatory landscape and working culture across a number of geographies

· Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision

· Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the Group's core values

· Ability to commit to at least 30% business travel

· Ability to perform the role of "Change Leader"
