Meals with Love
Meals with Love offers a spectrum of assistance, primarily in the form of grocery vouchers, for identified lower-income families to defray their living expenses. The goal is to help them break the poverty cycle, and achieve financial independence.
Young Hearts
The Young Hearts (YH) Programme aims to give children and youth from lower-income families a leg-up in life and develop them into socially-responsible citizens via four key elements: Tuition, Enrichment Workshops, Outings, and Mentorship. The success of the programme is
hinged on the team efforts to create brand awareness on the ground.
Job Purpose
The Assistant Head of Department (AHoD) is responsible for overseeing the administrative functions and operational support to the Families, Children and Youth services under the Singapore Red Cross. This role primarily focuses on developing strategies to enhance and expand the programmes in order to deepen our engagement with the lower-income families in Singapore. These include establishment of community partnerships as well as staff and volunteers development and empowerment.
Job Responsibilities
● Work with the Reporting Officer (RO) to plan goals and strategic focus for the section;
● Develop strategic collaborations with community partners and/or social service sector Organisations;
● Oversee and provide guidance to the Family LifeAid Operations Teams
● Establish a strong rapport with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to beneficiaries, donors, volunteers and community partners;
● Provide regular and relevant updates to the management and other internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner;
● Managing centres in the communities;
● Position the programmes to strategically further the objective and cause of both programmes.
● Provide support and guidance in volunteer recruitment and engagement activities, fostering a positive and collaborative relationship with volunteers to enhance programme effectiveness.
● Represent the Society at public and external events as required;
● Perform related duties as required.
Job Specifications
Qualifications and Experience
● Possess a recognised university degree or diploma preferably in the field of youth development or social services;
● Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
● Prior leadership management experience preferred.
● Prior working experience in the social service sector and/or working with volunteers
preferred
Additional Skills and Knowledge
● Good communication skills both spoken and written English
● Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well to people of all levels
● Computer literate
● Good planning and organisational skills
● Good knowledge and understanding of the local community programmes and services
