Overview:
Meatiply is a leading cultivated meat start-up based in Singapore that unveiled Asia’s first cultivated duck prototype consisting of multiple cell types. The name Meatiply is an amalgamation of the words "meat” and "multiply" and we aim to leverage stem stem cell cultivation and food technology to produce nutritious tasty slaughter-free ingredients and food products.
By leveraging both biotechnology and food technology, Meatiply aims to reduce the harmful effects of intensive industrial animal agriculture. We recognise that there is a need to increase sustainability and accessibility to animal-based ingredients in consumer products.
We are seeking a highly motivated Bioprocess Lead/Scientist to lead the process development for scaling cultivated meat production! This role focuses on setting up process parameters and optimizing bioreactor cultures for seed train generation, based in Singapore. It provides opportunities to apply process development principles, innovative engineering, troubleshooting, and data analysis to support the scale-up of cultivated chicken cell lines. Responsibilities:
1) Bioreactor Lab Setup: Design and establish a bioreactor lab, coordinating with vendors for bioreactors and supporting equipment procurement.
2) Cultivated Chicken Cell Culture: Lead process development for cultivated chicken cell culture scale-up, from small-scale dynamic culture to > 10L. Conduct experimental design, wet-lab work, and data analysis for cell proliferation and differentiation.
3) Process Monitoring and Control: Define key process parameters for scale-up and implement analytical methods for continuous process monitoring and control.
4) Collaboration and Technology Transfer: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and bioprocess groups for scalable processes.
5) Leadership and Decision Making: Align with senior leadership for critical decisions and lead co-development partnerships for shared process development goals.
6) Process Optimization: Evaluate processes for efficiency improvements and manufacturability, offering creative solutions to technical challenges.
Requirements:
-3-5 years or more of industry/academic experience (MS/PhD) in bioprocess engineering, biotechnology, cell manufacturing, or a relevant engineering field.
-Minimum 2 years of experience with lab-scale bioreactors, with a focus on suspension culture.
-Experience in lab to mid-scale (1-20L) animal cell culture in a process development environment.
-Demonstrate microcarrier-based cell culture proficiency and optimize processes for improved productivity and cell differentiation.
-Familiarity with mammalian metabolic pathways and metabolic flux analysis.
-Experience in writing SOP and/or WI documentation.
-Interest in the cultivated meat industry and a strong understanding of cell line development, iPSC culture, media development, mammalian cell culture, tissue engineering and biomaterials/scaffolding development.
-Tech transfer experience, scale-down model development, and automation skills are a plus.
