We are seeking an experienced IBM i Technology Refresh Specialist to lead the upgrade of our systems from IBM i V7R3 to V7R5 and migrate from Power 8 to Power 10 hardware. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with IBM Power Series, third-party software from Fortra and Precisely, and a strong background in system migrations and SSO implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the upgrade of IBM i systems from V7R3 to V7R5.
- Migrate existing hardware from Power 8 to Power 10.
- Manage and ensure the seamless integration of third-party software from Fortra and Precisely.
- Implement ITera (Non PowerHA) and Assured Mimix (Power HA) from Precisely.
- Coordinate with IBM Professional Services for hardware/OS upgrades and migration.
- Oversee and implement Single Sign-On (SSO) post cut-over.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive migration plan, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical leadership and support throughout the migration process.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the upgrade and migration.
- Ensure minimal downtime and disruption to business operations during the transition.
- Document all processes, configurations, and changes made during the migration.
Requirements:
- Proven experience with IBM i systems and Power Series hardware.
- Extensive experience with IBM i upgrades, particularly from V7R3 to V7R5.
- Strong knowledge of Power 8 and Power 10 hardware.
- Experience with third-party software from Fortra and Precisely, specifically ITera and Assured Mimix.
- Familiarity with SSO implementation and management.
- Experience coordinating with IBM for hardware/OS upgrades and migrations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead a technical team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in IBM i systems or IBM Power Series hardware.
- Experience with other IBM software and tools.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a large enterprise environment.
