Accountant (8-month contract)

As part of the General Ledger team, support the organization to ensure accuracy of reports and maintaining a high level of internal control frameworks across the APAC region.


No relocation assistance is offered for this position.


Core Responsibilities

  • Perform & review end to end Fixed Asset (FA) activities
  • Creation of assets, run depreciation, asset retirement, manual journal posting and maintain capitalization working file
  • Build, review and perform settlement of investment order through CAR, EPOD and AUC
  • Maintain lease contract based on IFRS16 requirement
  • Perform FA labeling and physical counts
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliation, monitor aging items and complete clearing
  • Perform monthly Trial Balance review
  • Collaborate with controlling team for process governances and controls
  • Support audit activities and Financial Statement notes
  • Monitor and drive critical metric performance

The Accounting Services organization consists of the Tax Operations & Compliance (TOC) team and General Ledger (GL) teams operating within the LEGO Business Service Operations (BSO).


Within BSO, the GL team is responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of the consolidation reports and meeting the global tax and statutory compliance requirements. The department balance a mix of internal resources and third parties to efficiently meet global compliance requirements.

The department focuses on clear and accurate status reporting, maintaining a strong internal control framework, using technology and standard processes to meet its operational targets.


The role will require a standout colleague with a self-starter mentality and a dynamic strive to bring in new processes into the GL department. The performance is driven not only on the stated objectives but on the collaboration and service management provided to partners. Also, the role is encouraged to bring innovative ideas and challenge existing practices.


This role helps in accurate and timely reporting of fixed assets within the APAC entities in the LEGO Group.


Do you have what it takes:

  • Diploma or Degree or equivalent experience in Accountancy preferred
  • 3 - 5 years in General Ledger in MNC and global shared services environment, familiar with regulations in APAC countries (Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia & New Zealand, and India would be a plus)
  • Experience in global companies or those having global accounting compliance requirements
  • Applying Business Intelligence to standardize and enhance reporting capabilities and speed. Able to recommend improvements to data structures
  • Ability to collaborate globally with internal collaborators, global third-party service providers, and compliance bodies
  • Experience in global process transitions proven through shared service center experience or involvement in projects or process improvements
  • Strong and collaborative great teammate with a growth mindset and is agile in adapting to changes
  • Strong MS Excel skills as well as hands-on experience with SAP, SAP BW and Power BI
  • Analytical approach and attention to detail
