Job Title: Cost Controller

Location: Singapore

Department: Finance/Accounting

Reports To: Finance Manager

Job Purpose:

The Cost Controller will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and managing the costs associated with the production processes within the food manufacturing factory. The role includes ensuring that all production activities are conducted in a cost-effective manner while maintaining quality standards. The Cost Controller will work closely with the production, procurement, and finance teams to control costs, optimize resource utilization, and enhance overall profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Analysis:Analyze the cost structure of production activities and identify areas for cost reduction.
    Conduct regular variance analysis between budgeted and actual costs.
    Prepare detailed cost reports, including material, labor, and overhead costs.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:Assist in the preparation of budgets for production operations.
    Provide accurate forecasts of production costs based on historical data and future projections.
    Monitor budget compliance and highlight areas of concern to management.
  3. Cost Control:Implement and maintain cost control systems and procedures.
    Monitor raw material usage, waste, and inefficiencies in the production process.
    Work with procurement to ensure cost-effective purchasing and inventory management.
  4. Inventory Management:Oversee inventory levels to ensure optimal stock without overcapitalization.
    Conduct regular inventory audits to prevent discrepancies and reduce waste.
    Analyze and report on inventory variances and work on strategies to mitigate them.
  5. Reporting:Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports to management.
    Provide insights and recommendations based on cost data to improve profitability.
    Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  6. Compliance:Ensure all cost control procedures comply with relevant financial regulations and company policies.
    Work with external auditors to ensure compliance during audits.
  7. Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
    Lead or participate in cost-saving initiatives and projects within the factory.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certification preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost control, preferably in the food manufacturing industry or hotel industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Working Conditions:

  • Based in a factory environment with occasional exposure to production areas.
  • 5 day work week
