Job Summary:Ngee Ann Polytechnic is seeking a dedicated and experienced Microsoft SQL Database Administrator to be stationed on-site for 36 months. The selected candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of Microsoft SQL Server instances, including Azure SQL databases. The role involves ensuring high availability, security, and performance of the databases, as well as supporting developers and managing routine maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. SQL Server Administration:Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances.
    Manage and monitor SQL Server clusters for high availability.
    Perform SQL Server patches and updates, including Azure SQL databases, to address security vulnerabilities and performance improvements.
  2. Performance Monitoring and Optimization:Monitor database performance, resource utilization, and system health.
    Optimize SQL queries and troubleshoot database performance issues.
  3. Security and Backup Management:Implement security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
    Perform regular backups and restorations to ensure data availability and disaster recovery.
  4. Issue Resolution and Support:Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to database performance, availability, and security.
    Provide support for bug fixes, vulnerability issues, and other related tasks.
    Assist in resolving issues related to the Microsoft SQL setup, including network, software, hardware, and operating systems.
  5. Collaboration and Documentation:Work closely with application developers to understand and address their database requirements.
    Maintain up-to-date documentation related to the database environment, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  6. Reporting and Communication:Provide monthly work progress reports to the Polytechnic’s representative.
    Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team and with stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Educational Background:Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or relevant certification courses.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Database Administrator.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and Azure Cloud is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in managing Windows operating systems and PowerShell scripting is beneficial.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with a meticulous and organized approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive work attitude with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.

Additional Requirements:

  • Work Passes:Tenderer’s personnel must have valid work passes granted by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) if they are foreigners.
  • Replacement and Continuity:The Tenderer must ensure continuity of service, with reasonable notice provided for any personnel turnover, and suitable replacements arranged promptly.
  • Compliance:The candidate must adhere to Ngee Ann Polytechnic's IT Security Policies, data administration policies, and other relevant rules and regulations.

Working Hours:

  • Standard Hours:Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM
    Friday: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Extended Support:The candidate may be required to support services during extended hours as needed, with time-off compensation provided.

On-boarding and Exit Management:

  • On-boarding:The candidate must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and be briefed on all applicable policies and standards before commencing work.
  • Exit Management:The candidate will be responsible for handing over all documentation, assets, and outstanding tasks before the contract ends, and must ensure secure destruction or return of all data obtained during the contract.
