Job Description:
My client is seeking a talented and motivated Design Engineer - Packaging to join our dynamic team. This role involves designing innovative packaging solutions for our wide range of products, ensuring they meet all quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in design, an eye for detail, and proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Packaging Solutions: Develop creative and efficient packaging designs that meet the aesthetic and functional requirements of products.
- Modification and Improvement: Modify existing packaging designs to enhance performance and comply with testing standards.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct rigorous testing on packaging designs, including drop tests, vibration tests, and environmental tests, to ensure durability and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product design teams, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure packaging designs are feasible and cost-effective.
- Documentation: Create detailed design documentation, including specifications, CAD drawings, and test reports.
- Sustainability: Incorporate sustainable design principles to minimize environmental impact.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all packaging designs meet stipulated high-quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project goals.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in packaging design, preferably in the electronics or consumer goods industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., CATIA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is required.
- Testing Knowledge: Experience with packaging testing methods and standards (e.g., ISTA, ASTM).
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve design issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in design work.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with sustainable packaging design.
- Knowledge of materials used in packaging, such as corrugated cardboard, plastics, and foams.
