We are a Japanese Omakase restaurant seeking an experienced and skilled Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. Our restaurant is dedicated to providing an exceptional dining experience, and we are looking for a talented chef to help us achieve this goal.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in creating exquisite Omakase dishes. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Japanese cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques, as well as experience in managing a kitchen team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the kitchen team to ensure seamless execution of Omakase service
- Develop and implement new menu items and specials
- Maintain high-quality standards in food preparation, presentation, and plating
- Manage kitchen operations, including inventory management and budgeting
- Collaborate with the restaurant team to ensure exceptional customer service
- Participate in ongoing training and education to improve knowledge and skills
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in a high-end Japanese restaurant kitchen
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role (Head Chef or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques
- Experience with Omakase service and menu planning
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask with ease
- Familiarity with kitchen management software and systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in food safety and handling (e.g. Food Safety Certification)
- Japanese language skills (conversational or better)
- Experience with sake, wine, and other beverages (or willingness to learn)
- Knowledge of Japanese customs and etiquette
