Consultant, Economics & Property

Cistri Pte. Ltd.

Who we are:

Cistri is a new type of consultancy in the region; independent from any development agency, building contractor or architectural / engineering consultant; offering meaningful, holistic advice for urban development across the disciplines of economics, planning and design. Independent, evidence-based and joined-up thinking is critical to the complex urban issues facing governments, developers, investors, NGOs and communities today.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a proactive and talented Consultant to join our Economics & Property practice in our Singapore office. Our Economics & Property team works at the cutting edge of real estate and urban analysis, combining economics and big-data analytics, with a deep understanding of urban planning, real estate markets and cities to provide evidence-based answers to the most challenging questions.

You will be part of a team undertaking research, data analytics and visualization, mapping, modelling, and report writing on a range of city-shaping projects located not only in Singapore but also elsewhere in Asia and in the Middle East. The projects will be varied, from property market studies and real estate asset analysis to large scale city level master plan developments.

The role will be supported by highly experienced Directors and a market leading Economics & Property team.

You will:

Project Inputs

  • Managing and undertaking field research to obtain primary data and knowledge across a wide range of sources and networks. This includes travelling, relatively regularly, to cities throughout Asia and the Middle East;
  • Collating and analysing qualitative and quantitative data for consulting assignments and assisting the team to deliver property advice to clients;
  • Using appropriate tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), internal databases and other relevant applications to extract, populate and manipulate data;
  • Providing support and managing team members in their research tasks, servicing client requirements including the tabulation of data and report preparations;
  • Preparing draft client reports for review by senior team members;
  • Incorporating client feedback into final reports; and
  • Co-ordinating and commissioning sub-consultants, where necessary.

Knowledge & Product Development

  • Regularly reviewing major research documents and data sources and informing the team of market information, trends and developments;
  • Keeping up to date with local and global trends relevant to Cistri’s core business;
  • Compiling and maintaining databases, including cleaning, preparing and entering information; and
  • Assisting in developing new databases and database related products

Commercial Management

  • Maintaining and collating all property files as required;
  • Ensuring effective individual workload planning;
  • Preparing weekly timesheets and invoicing for projects;
  • Gaining high proficiency in the technical aspects of Economics & Property assignments;
  • Participating in training & development activities;

Business Development

  • Developing an understanding of the business plans for the overall Cistri business and for the E&P Business Unit;
  • Participating in the development and growth of the company and the Economics & Property team;
  • Assisting in managing internal and external clients;
  • Providing input into draft proposals, tenders, presentations and submissions for potential projects;
  • Attending relevant industry functions and events; and
  • Promoting the firm and its business to create business opportunities.

About You:

  • Completed an undergraduate qualification in Property Economics, Economics, Business/Finance, Real Estate or a related degree
  • A Masters degree is beneficial but not essential
  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ relevant experience in a Consultant or similar position
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint)
  • Prior experience with GIS systems (such as ArcGIS or QGIS), data visualisation software (e.g. Microsoft Power BI), or programming language (e.g. Python)
  • Prior experience working on Middle East projects
  • Skills in database creation, manipulation and management are desirable
  • Able to effectively prioritise and multi-task
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbally and through written communication
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret and critically review research data
