Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Freight Business Controller to ensure the accuracy of financial data and reporting, perform PNL analyses, streamline processes and procedures, and support various functional areas across the trade life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Control:
•Provide accurate daily position reporting.
•Track and record daily and monthly PBT.
•Manage voyage P&L tracking, FFA & bunker swaps, TCI & TCO.
•Prepare and present reports on the financial performance of the freight desk.
Financial Control:
•Ensure balance sheet integrity.
•Conduct budget vs actual analysis.
•Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
•Oversee month-end and year-end closing.
•Manage budget planning and review.
Accounts Payable/Receivable:
•Authorize payments.
Systems:
•Act as a key team member in the interface project of the Freight CTRM (IMOS) to the ERP.
•Implement system (IMOS) improvements and efficiencies.
Improvement Projects:
•Implement internal controls and procedures to reduce operational, credit, and FX risk.
•Enhance synergy between accounting, operations, and trade to ensure accurate and timely accounting records.
Internal Coordination:
•Work closely with the freight operations and chartering teams, and the vertical accounting team.
•Collaborate with the global trading department, global freight department / Head of Ocean Freight, global operations department / Freight Operations Manager, finance/commercial controlling, CEO, CFO, and Head of Trade.

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or Economics
•7+ years of experience in Finance, with at least 2 years in a similar Trade Accounting/Freight Controlling role
•Previous experience in commodities, shipping, or derivatives
•Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
•Knowledge of the Ocean Freight industry
•Excellent communication skills in English, capable of engaging with the CEO, CFO, and Head of Trade
•Proficiency in general accounting practices
•High proficiency in Financial/ERP systems such as MS Dynamics
•High Proficiency in shipping software such as IMOS, Softmar, or similar
•High Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
