Summary
Responsible for material research, formulation and characterization of synthetic polymers, novel materials and functional coatings for the Surgical Gloves business.
Responsibilities
- Develop novel, alternative, synthesis or characterization of synthetic latex formulations, functional coatings, and technologies for surgical gloves.
- Manage the lab scale evaluation for product development study to prove commercial value of new material/product concept.
- Support scale up trials and implementation activities.
- Provide data-driven solutions, statistical analysis, and preparation of R&D documents.
- Apply innovative and logical risk-based approach to product development challenges, develop intellectual property protection for key innovations.
- Provide effective project management to ensure appropriate procedures of design controls of new products are followed
- Support/lead competitive landscape analysis work
- Principal investigator for collaboration projects with external research institutes or vendors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Possess a PhD degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer / Rubber Engineering or any relevant disciplines with at least 5 years of R&D experience within the Surgical Glove industry.
- Experience in formulating and evaluating of synthetic latex polymers for Surgical Gloves.
- Lab experience in compounding, dip molding experience, performance coatings. With knowledge and hands-on experience in product development of elastomeric materials, vulcanization process, and emulsifying system.
- Experienced in analytical and laboratory skills pertaining to the development of robust analytical methods to characterize polymers and evaluate reaction results.
- Ability to effectively communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to team members, internal stakeholders, and business leadership. Requires strong technical judgement and technical leadership skills.
- Collaborative team player with ability to give / receive constructive feedback.
- Strong creative, analytical and innovative problem-solving skills required.
- Travel Requirements: Approximately 10-30%.
