The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 24-month contract at the Natural Sciences and Science Education Department.
Project Title: Enhancing guiding inquiry-based learning through teacher-chatbot collaboration
Project Introduction: This project aims to develop a chatbot-integrated instructional model to support scientific inquiry, promoting student-led activities. The research will involve designing, implementing, and refining this model through feedback loops. Expected outcomes include better student engagement, increased opportunities for student agency, and improved teacher-chatbot collaboration, enhancing inquiry-based learning.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or a related field
• Preferred qualifications or work experience in science education
• Proficiency in prompt engineering or use of large language models
• Good communication, organisation, writing, proof-reading and research skills
• Native or near-native proficiency in English
• Proactive and able to work independently, and a good team player
Responsibilities:
• Conduct a literature review to support research
• Work on development of lessons and materials
• Work on development of a custom model using a large language model (e.g., ChatGPT)
• Assist and work closely with the research team and partners
• Collect, analyse and manage data
• Write/prepare research reports, publications and presentation materials independently
• Other research and project management tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI).
