The AS/Drag Tender is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and assembly of marine engines and associated mechanical systems. This role involves handling specialized drag equipment, ensuring the proper functioning of machinery, and performing various technical tasks to support vessel and offshore operations. The AS/Drag Tender works closely with other engineering and deck crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on marine engines, propulsion systems, and associated machinery.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, ensuring prompt resolution to minimize downtime.
- Assemble and install marine engines and related mechanical systems according to technical specifications.
- Ensure proper alignment, fitting, and secure installation of engines and components.
- Operate and maintain drag equipment used for offshore or marine operations, such as draglines, dredging equipment, or other specialized machinery.
- Perform inspections and routine maintenance on drag equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to safety procedures and standards in all maintenance, repair, and assembly activities.
- Participate in safety drills and emergency response activities as required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repair activities, and equipment performance.
- Report any issues or concerns to the Chief Engineer or relevant supervisory staff.
- Work closely with other crew members, including engineers and deckhands, to coordinate maintenance and operational tasks.
- Communicate effectively to ensure that all team members are aware of ongoing maintenance and repair activities.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in marine engineering and drag equipment technology.
- Participate in training programs and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Technical diploma or certification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant maritime certifications, including STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) and any additional certifications related to drag equipment.
- Proven experience as a Marine Engine Fitter-Assembler or similar role in the maritime or offshore industry.
- Hands-on experience with drag equipment and marine engines.
