Salary: Up to $7,500

Working days/hours: 5 day work week, 8.30am - 6pm

The Maintenance Manager will oversee the maintenance operations of the hotel, ensuring safety and high-quality standards are met. Additionally, the role requires regular reporting and coordination at the office headquarters, with a focus on driving continuous improvements to boost team efficiency and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that preventive maintenance is performed according to specifications and complies with regulatory requirements.
  • Create and enforce a master schedule for the maintenance and replacement of equipment and systems.
  • Regularly inspect building maintenance services, including safety protocols, operational equipment, installations, and inventory.
  • Facilitate and execute plans for building and equipment upgrades based on established requirements.
  • Ensure the seamless operation of the building, promptly addressing emergencies to minimize inconvenience and disruption.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and government agencies regarding building maintenance and the renewal of licenses for major equipment and installations.
  • Supervise and verify that all contractor work adheres to specifications and meets regulatory standards.
  • Prepare, review, and manage the annual maintenance budget, capital replacement works, and procurement of goods and services to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Achieve maintenance cost savings through energy conservation and other cost-control measures.
  • Take on any other duties as assigned by the General Manager as needed.
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the team to ensure productivity, continuously advocating for process improvements to enhance customer service quality.
  • Coach and develop a high-performing maintenance team that meets objectives and consistently delivers superior results.
  • Set high standards through personal example, ensuring the team understands and adheres to expected behaviors.
  • Provide comprehensive training and cross-training, including the induction of new staff.
  • Execute performance management processes for the team, ensuring all records are accurately maintained.
  • Plan and manage the manpower needs of the department.
  • Collaborate with the management team to share ideas and drive continuous improvement in operations, processes, and procedures, aligning with quality standards.
  • Formulate and implement fire emergency plans and procedures specifically for YWCA Fort Canning.
  • Perform routine inspections to identify and eliminate any fire hazards within the premises.
  • Oversee the upkeep of fire safety protection systems.
  • Educate guests, tenants, and staff on establishing and maintaining a safe workplace environment.
  • Provide training in basic fire-fighting and rescue techniques to staff and tenants.
  • Organize fire drills and evaluate evacuation procedures to ensure effectiveness.
  • Manage the operations of the Fire Command Centre.
  • Prepare and submit annual reports on fire safety matters to the General Manager.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Minimally a degree in Estates Management, Building or related disciplines.
  • Qualified Fire Safety Manager registered and certified by SCDF will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possess supervisory and management skills.
  • Be meticulous and independent and have ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skill and ability to think strategically.
  • Strong communication and written skills.
  • Possess a customer-service mindset and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
