Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Certified with a Specialist Diploma in BIM by BCA Academy or any other BIM authoring software training provider.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the heavy steel structural and construction field, with a strong focus on using Tekla structure and BIM modeling software.
- Proficient in Tekla Structures software.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Roles and Responsibilities
Client Requirements & Coordination:
- Understand and interpret client requirements, technical specifications, and project scope to deliver accurate 3D models and detailed drawings.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to ensure alignment with client expectations and project goals.
Modeling & Detailing:
- Develop detailed 3D models of steel structures and civil foundations using Tekla Structures, ensuring precision and adherence to project specifications.
- Produce comprehensive fabrication detail drawings, including connection details, assembly drawings, part lists, and material specifications, ensuring they are suitable for manufacturing and construction.
BIM Integration:
- Overlay Tekla models with Revit BIM models to ensure coordination and clash detection between different structural and architectural elements.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings, providing insights and resolving discrepancies between models.
Steel Structure Expertise:
- Apply extensive knowledge in steel structure design, including connections, load-bearing elements, and material properties, to create robust and compliant models.
- Ensure that all steel detailing is in accordance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
Civil Foundation Detailing:
- Develop detailed foundation plans, sections, and reinforcement details for civil engineering projects.
- Ensure compatibility and integration of foundation details with the overall structural model and architectural requirements.
Quality Assurance & Control:
- Conduct regular model reviews and checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards.
- Implement quality control measures to minimize errors and ensure deliverables meet high standards of quality.
Project Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for all models, drawings, and project files, ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Provide detailed reports and documentation to support construction, fabrication, and site activities.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in Tekla Structures, Revit, and BIM technologies, and apply innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of best practices, templates, and standards within the organization to enhance efficiency and quality in future projects.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members to clarify requirements, provide updates, and resolve issues.
- Work closely with the construction and site teams to ensure smooth execution of designs and address any on-site challenges.
Project Management Support:
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, ensuring that all modeling and detailing activities are completed on time and within budget.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and drafters involved in the project.
