Job Responsibilities:
- Provide mechanical and mechatronics design solutions for new products and design to meet ID, performance, quality and cost targets at timely delivery.
- Contribute ideas, conceptual design and techniques which are of material significance in solving specific problems.
- Research, select, or apply sensors, or control devices for motion control, positioning drives and pressure sensing, or electronic communication.
- Conduct DFMEA for the design.
- Establish design specifications and test methodologies. Select and qualify suitable materials, finishes and manufacturing processes to fulfill design intent. Work closely with tooling engineers and operation group on qualifications and ensure compliance.
- Perform thermal, motion, structural, tolerance and vibration analysis. Conduct internal design reviews and discussions with customers.
- Perform design verification and validation testing to ensure compliance with standards, country regulations and meet all functional and product performance requirements. Work with cross-functional engineers to resolve system issues.
- Support cost reduction initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Master or Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of direct relevant experience in full design and development cycle.
- Expert user of 3D modeling and structural FEA tool such as SolidWorks. Experience user of thermal simulation software such as Ansys Icepak will be advantageous.
- Sound understanding of mechanical principles and experience in GD&T application and interpretation, tolerance stack creation and analysis, and precision measurement systems/methods.
- Ability to examine and identify important elements or problem, think critically, analyze options, make recommendations or generate alternative solutions to solve a problem.
- Design experience in advanced precision engineering for medical equipment assemblies with strong knowledge in statistical tools and analysis is preferred.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, DFMA and DFSS methodologies.
- Familiar with ISO9001 or ISO13485 design process
- Capable of leading the ME effort in a project, and effectively work with other cross-functional teams and tooling engineers.
