Logistic manager is a professional responsible for overseeing the movement, storage, and distribution of goods and materials within an organization. Their primary objective is to ensure that products are delivered to the right location, at the right time, and in the most cost-effective and efficient manner possible.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Determine the most efficient routes for transporting goods to minimize time and costs while ensuring timely delivery.
2. Source, negotiate contracts with, and manage relationships with suppliers and service providers such as carriers and third-party logistics (3PL) companies.
3. Control and reduce transportation, inventory, and warehousing costs through effective negotiation, strategic planning, and optimization of resources.
4. Design and optimize warehouse layout and processes to maximize space utilization, improve efficiency, and facilitate smooth material flow.
5. Implement inventory management strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels, reduce stockouts and overstock situations, and improve inventory turnover.
6. Ensure the quality of goods throughout the supply chain by implementing quality control measures and monitoring supplier performance.
7. Identify potential risks in the supply chain, such as disruptions in transportation or natural disasters, and develop contingency plans to mitigate their impact.
8. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing transportation, warehousing, and product safety.
9. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, and inventory accuracy, and provide regular reports to management.
