The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the QA Department to ensure food products meet company and regulatory standards. This role involves overseeing food safety standards, conducting audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, and addressing feedback related to food safety across all operational levels. The manager will also oversee training, product testing, and documentation to maintain certifications such as ISO 22000, BizSAFE Level 2 and Halal stipulation.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Responsibilities:
- Plan,organize, and coordinate daily QA operations for smooth functioning.
- Guide operational and production team.
- Conduct daily inspections including personal hygiene and cleanliness of the facility post-operation.
- Ensure compliance with prerequisite programs and temperature monitoring of chillers and freezers.
- Verify visitor health questionnaires and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Manage ordering of chemicals and other ad-hoc duties as assigned by management.
Monthly Responsibilities:
- Perform food product sampling for laboratory tests and conduct hand and equipment swabs.
- Prepare and maintain monthly forms, oversee pest control servicing and waste management reports.
- Monitor food safety objectives and address any ad-hoc duties assigned by management.
Yearly Responsibilities:
- Maintain ISO 22000, BizSAFE Level 2 and Halal compliance and documentation.
- Conduct Mock Recalls, Internal Audits, and Management Reviews as per ISO22000 requirements.
- Manage supplier qualifications, maintain documentation, and conduct emergency preparedness simulations.
- Address food safety feedback from outlets/customers and follow up on corrective action requests.
- Update risk assessments for the facility as needed and perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned.
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure food products manufactured in the facility meet company and regulatory standards.
- Manage and oversee audits by third-party and authority inspections, including Singapore Food Agency, SGS Singapore for ISO 22000, MUIS and Ministry of Manpower for workplace safety.
- Investigate feedback regarding food safety from customers, suppliers, and other external sources.
- Support functional departments on food safety-related processes and ensure all products comply with company SOPs.
- Develop and provide training on food hygiene, safety knowledge, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- 5 years minimum experience in quality assurance, food safety, and management.
- Strong understanding of ISO 22000, BizSAFE and Halal requirements.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct audits and handle regulatory inspections effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant QA software.
Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
- Experience with internal and external audit processes.
- Ability to develop and deliver training programs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks and working under pressure.
Additional Information:
- This role may require occasional evening or weekend work to meet operational needs.
