Responsibilities:
- Collaboration and Leadership:
- Collaborate with the Head of Interior Design and APAC interior and architectural teams to enhance design culture, processes, and standards within the organization.
- Act as a key client-facing team member, effectively presenting and communicating interior design concepts to clients.
- Coach, mentor, and develop emerging interior designers to build a strong and skilled design team.
- Develop and implement the interior design structure for Populous APAC, including design review processes, inspiration, and educational initiatives.
- Design and Strategy:
- Provide expert advice, input, and guidance to project teams across a range of projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Take a proactive approach to developing design skills among interior staff, ensuring excellence in project delivery.
- Offer design inspiration and guidance on current trends, particularly in sectors Populous operates in, with a focus on Asia Pacific design styles and commercial applications.
- Project Management and Delivery:
- Oversee the development and implementation of interior design structures, including design review processes and documentation.
- Ensure that design documentation packages and details are accurately put together for various project scales.
- Use BIM and Revit for architectural documentation, ensuring intermediate to advanced proficiency in these tools.
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate design concepts and their delivery clearly and effectively to key stakeholders and clients.
- Manage and inspire design teams, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations.
- Industry Knowledge and Development:
- Stay updated with industry trends, materials, finishes, and color palettes, incorporating ongoing developments into design practices.
- Leverage familiarity with Australian furniture and fixtures suppliers to source and apply quality products for interior environments.
- Travel and Regional Support:
- Travel interstate and occasionally internationally to support and develop teams across the APAC region.
Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- University Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Interior Design (or a related field) from Singapore or a recognized university.
- Ongoing legal right to work within Singapore.
- Experience:
- Over 15 years of experience in interior design, with a particular focus on hospitality design.
- Proven track record of highly recognized interior design outcomes and expertise.
- Experience in organizing and managing design teams, with a natural ability to inspire and lead.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge and experience using BIM and Revit for architectural documentation.
- High-level technical knowledge of architectural project delivery.
- Solid understanding of materials, finishes, color palettes, and their application in interior design.
- Communication and Proficiency:
- Clear and effective communication skills, with strong abilities in presenting design concepts and negotiating contractual interests.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and presentation software.
- Strong English language skills, both verbal and written.
- Personal Attributes:
- Ability to travel for work as needed and a readiness to support and develop teams around the region.
- Demonstrable skills in leadership, mentoring, and developing design talent within the organization.
