Roles & Responsibilities:
- Safety, Quality, Environment, and Health Management:
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Safety, Quality, Environment, and Health Management Systems (e.g., SS506 Part 3, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, IATF 16949).
- Adhere to legal obligations for safety, ensuring responsibility for oneself and others at work.
- Assist in reducing Major Accident Hazards to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) and escalate issues when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with Customer Specific Requirements (CSR).
- General Duties:
- Be part of the production leadership team to develop goals and strategies for the department.
- Familiarize with the production plant and support the team to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Support research and development for manufacturing technology improvements.
- Safety and Environment Management:
- Provide support for plant process operations to achieve safe and stable performance and quality products.
- Manage safety, health, and environmental issues, solving problems as they arise.
- Review and address abnormality reports, non-conforming product reports, and incident reports; propose corrective and preventive actions.
- Plan non-regular work, provide instructions, and train supervisors and technicians.
- Support regulatory requirements such as water efficiency management, energy conservation, and workplace safety.
- Operation Support:
- Maintain operating conditions, guides, check sheets, and logs to meet environmental, health, safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Administer and monitor DCS system changes, optimize alarms to prevent nuisance.
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues.
- Train shift team members on new/revised procedures and ensure proper operation of processes and machinery.
- Lead ASDM work and facilitate production committee programs.
- Support ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 implementation.
- Provide support related to raw material supply changes.
- Process Improvement:
- Lead process optimization and capacity improvement projects.
- Manage operational MOC and ensure action plans are implemented.
- Implement cost reduction measures and analyze data to address production bottlenecks.
- Initiate quality improvements and support new product/process trials.
- Prepare and analyze monthly production uptime reports.
- Capital Expense Project (Capex) Management:
- Follow up on assigned capital expense projects, including documentation and approvals.
- Conduct preliminary process design, identify hazards/risks, and liaise with vendors for quotes and specifications.
- Control budget and schedule, coordinate project execution, and ensure completion with updated documentation.
- Production Spares and Tool Management:
- Manage production spares and consumables to support daily operations.
- Coordinate calibration and repair of production tools and equipment.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop areas of improvement to maximize production efficiency without compromising EHS and quality.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements for EHSQ and operational efficiency.
- Provide engineering support for production, maintenance, and improvement activities.
- Ensure shift teams adhere to process control parameters and collaborate on adjustments.
- Diagnose operational breakdowns and implement resolution plans.
- Stay updated on advancements in engineering and production, sharing knowledge with co-workers.
- Report unsafe operations and practices.
- Assist in budget preparation and monitor expenses and profitability.
- Adhere to EHSQ regulations and collaborate with other departments for safe and efficient operations.
- Develop new operating procedures, work instructions, and risk assessments.
Requirements:
- Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an operations engineer in a chemical processing plant.
- Good knowledge of chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or polymer science.
- Experience in process safety management and quantitative risk assessment (e.g., LOPA) is advantageous.
- SCEM or Steam Engineer/Boiler Attendant certificate is preferable.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SS506-Part 3, cost control, and regulations.
- Highly motivated with an inquisitive mindset and readiness for new challenges.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
