Additional Responsibilities:
- Select new suppliers for prototypes, first builds, and production phases.
- Manage the identification of multiple materials, fabrication methods, and suppliers for specific designs, focusing on cost-effective global sources.
- Facilitate and participate in design reviews.
- Qualify alternate manufacturing methods and suppliers.
- Assess and onboard new suppliers.
- Manage, analyze, and communicate data collected during the supplier selection and first article processes.
- Identify potential sole-source conditions in designs and proactively develop alternatives.
- Provide technical design input.
- Review engineering documents to uncover opportunities for cost avoidance.
- Collaborate with mechanical design teams to influence design solutions from a supplier’s perspective.
- Maintain familiarity with the supply base across multiple commodities.
- Visit suppliers to assess their capabilities.
- Interface with global suppliers, sharing pertinent specification information.
- Work closely with assigned buyers to manage supplier relationships.
- Review Axcelis design documentation with suppliers.
- Act as the primary contact for supplier issues, with the authority to modify designs to resolve manufacturing problems.
- Advocate for the resolution of supplier issues within Engineering, aiming to resolve first article problems as quickly as possible.
- Review parts and assembly databases to identify candidates for global sourcing.
- Conduct part source inspections, supplier audits, and business reviews.
- Support the Axcelis Asian Operations Center's production needs.
- Collaborate closely with Buyers, Quality Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations will be provided for individuals with disabilities.
- Broad knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to understand system and assembly-level electrical, fluid, and gas schematics.
- Familiarity with machining, sheet metal fabrication, finishing methods, tolerancing, and technical drawings.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
