Job Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership to the Air Freight department, steering the team toward achieving organizational objectives
- Oversee daily airfreight operations, ensuring seamless import and export activities in compliance with industry standards
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, managing recruitment, training, and performance evaluations to support growth from 7 to 15 members
- Cultivate and manage strong relationships with airlines, coloaders, and other service providers, negotiating favorable contracts and rates
- Ensure full compliance with airfreight regulations, customs, and security requirements, while proactively identifying and mitigating risks such as cargo damage and delays
- Develop and implement cost-efficient strategies to control expenses without compromising service quality
- Uphold a high standard of customer service by resolving issues promptly and ensuring customer needs are met
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation, including customs declarations, airway bills, and billing
- Regularly report on departmental performance, key performance indicators, and financials to senior management
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance processes, implement best practices, and improve operational efficiency
- Promote a culture of safety within the team, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and protecting the well-being of employees and cargo
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Air Freight department
- Maintain effective communication with other departments, customers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications
- Minimum Diploma or Degree in Logistics or a related field
- At least 5 years of managerial experience in Air Freight Operations, with a deep understanding of air freight regulations and best practices
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing and growing a team
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage vendor relationships effectively
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
