Benchmarking Analyst

Role Description:

The Benchmarking Analystprimary focus is to ensure seamless data analysis, portfolio review and effective problem solving with the Category strategy. The position plays a pivotal role in various facets of procurement, supporting the SVP Procurement on research and strategy development. As well as strategic projects linked to M&A activities that may require Research and analysis.


Main Responsibilities:

The Benchmarking Analyst will work closely with Sourcing Leads and Category team Leads on conducting end to end cost analysis. He/she is at the forefront of procurement strategy, overseeing negotiations, supplier management, and implementing purchasing strategies. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Support with Supplier Identification, Assessment, and Decision-making: Execute the identification, assessment, and decision-making process for suppliers, including negotiating contracts and managing relationships within the category.

Negotiation and Supplier Evaluation: Support buyers with negotiations (tender, auction, classical negotiation) and evaluate suppliers' offers based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Sourcing Tactics and Criteria Development: Support buyers on sourcing tactics and develop Requests for Information/Proposal (RFI/RFP) and supplier selection criteria for delegated spend.

Negotiation Strategy and Implementation: Develop negotiation strategy and levers for delegated spend, implementing sourcing strategies and tactics (e.g., running RFQs, executing identified material benefits).

Supplier Meetings and Event Assistance: Participate in meetings with suppliers on regional or local topics, assisting in the development and execution of sourcing events (RFPs, RFQs).

Coordination of Negotiations and Strategic Approach: Coordinate negotiations with a strategic approach for delegated spend, both at the category level and in sourcing countries.

Project Support and Execution: Support and/or execute projects related to procurement initiatives.

Purchasing Strategy Coordination: Coordinate the purchasing strategy per cluster, engaging lead and local buyers, and implementing it regionally and locally.

Market Analysis and Financial Analysis: Conduct external and internal analysis, including market research, financial analysis, and cost-effective initiative proposals for delegated spend.

Market Research and Opportunity Identification: Conduct market research, supplier evaluations, and analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, process improvements, and supplier optimization within the category.

Global Collaboration and Information Exchange: Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally, acting as a point-contact for information exchange between buyers and BUs/sales.

Price Increase Alerts and Risk Assessment: Provide immediate price increase alerts to BU where appropriate and conduct a risk assessment of the product portfolio, proposing risk reduction measures for delegated raw materials.

Supporting Role:

The Benchmarking Analyst actively collaborates with the procurement team, providing essential support and input to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of procurement activities.

Supply Chain Coordination:

· Assist in ensuring timely and requested quantities for Symrise plants.

· Provide input for managing specification issues and handling document forwarding (B/L, AWB, etc.).

Negotiation Facilitation:

· Offer valuable input for negotiating group interests and participating in global negotiations on a category level.

· Contribute to the management of global and regional contract responsibilities, including negotiations with key suppliers on a group scale.

Tail End Spend Strategy development and analysis.


Qualifications:

· Master’s Degree, in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance or a related field.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a data analysis/consulting/procurement support role or related position.

· Familiarity with procurement processes, order management, and supplier interactions.

· Strong understanding of operations and price dynamics

· Previous exposure to supporting negotiations and contract management.

· Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

· Data savvy and adept with digital & Microsoft tools

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

· Familiarity with global and regional market trends.

· Strategic mindset to provide valuable input in negotiations and supplier relationships.

· Fluent business English, advantage to have good command of another major language.
