Job Responsibilities
- Organize and implement courses of action for matters of technical nature arising onboard vessels.
- Instructs, coordinates and monitors works / repairs.
- Follow up on the maintenance status, condition and operation of assigned vessels and co-operates with the crew, in order to ensure that assigned vessels are operating in a safe and efficient manner.
- Attend vessels and periodically sail on-board to ensure the technical condition of the equipment.
- Monitor and verify vessel performance, supervise repairs, report findings, follow-up closure of defects etc.
- Provide training and technical advice to shipboard personnel, as necessary.
- Implement effectively, preventive maintenance of ship’s hull, main machinery, deck machinery, etc.
- Monitor Class and Flag State requirements and plans required surveys accordingly.
- Deal with any damage repairs or modifications, preserving the vessels commercial competence.
- Monitors all technical problems, major defects and follows-up, until corrective action is verified.
- Control and monitors the lub-oil and bunker quality and consumption.
- Prepare for repairs / conversions, dry-docking, special surveys, damage and voyage repairs, and specifications and supervises the execution of all such works.
- Attend delivery of new acquisitions.
Qualifications / Experience
- Sailing / Shore experience on Containers and/or bulk carriers will be advantageous
- Should have sailed as senior engine officer for period on at least 12 months on ocean going merchant vessels.
- Fluency in English.
- Computer literate.
- Excellent communication skills.
Job will require travel to and sailing with ships.
