Randstad Pte. Limited

Scientist

2 years contract

About the Company:

Our client is a US healthcare and a leading global biopharmaceutical company. They have a revenue of US $40.1 billion, with more than 69,000 employees across 140 countries with a heritage of more than 125 years. Our client is committed to provide patients and customers with a reliable supply of high-quality, safe, and effective medicines and vaccines. Their global supply strategy relies on manufacturing capabilities and expertise to achieve this mission

Primary Responsibilities:

The client’s Quantitative Biosciences department is currently seeking a Scientist with experience in bioanalytical assay development to join their Biomarkers and Data Analytics team. In this role, you will be accountable for developing, validating, and deploying biomarker assays across therapeutics areas, using samples from animal models and patients, with the goal of driving patient stratification, demonstrating target engagement, evaluating pharmacodynamic response, and guiding dose selection.

The client’s site is located within the Biopolis, the heart of Singapore’s biomedical research community. Here, they are focused on identifying and validating new drug targets, exploring innovative therapeutic modalities, and leveraging clinical studies and patient–derived material to understand biomarkers of disease or therapeutic response. The client’s state-of-the-art laboratory supports discovery biology and translational medicine and is an integral part of the company’s world-class network for drug and vaccine discovery.

Research Scientists are the Inventors - identifying and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways that could be inhibited or enhanced. The goal is to isolate a compound that is effective against a disease target. Using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities and robust scientific methodology we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough.

In this role, you will be responsible for all or subset of the key responsibilities below:

  • Develop and execute robust bioanalytical assays to support cell-based, in vitro, and in vivo studies.
  • Work with limited supervision on experimental design, troubleshooting, assay optimization and data interpretation.
  • Make detailed observations, analyze data, interpret results, and exercise appropriate technical discretion in the design and execution of experiments.
  • Participate in and communicate the interpretation of research results in cross-functional team meetings.
  • Keep up to date with emerging biomarker technology platforms and evaluate their utility in providing novel insights into disease biology.
  • Accurately document experiments and results in electronic notebooks and/or other required formats in compliance with company policies and project needs.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance for laboratory equipment, troubleshoot equipment malfunction, and support the team in routine operational activities for the laboratory.
  • Manage laboratory operations including inventory management, ordering supplies, maintaining lab safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist in training personnel in the operation of laboratory equipment as needed.

Requirements:

  • M.Sc in analytical chemistry, biochemistry (or equivalent) with at least 2 years of experience in bioanalytical assay or B.Sc with at least 5 years of experience working in a bioanalytical assay or a quality control (QC) laboratory
  • Hands-on experience with the design, development, optimization, qualification, and validation of novel bioassays and immunoassays using multiple platforms and technologies (e.g., ELISA, MSD/Luminex, flow cytometry, cytokine analyses, and cell-based reporter and cytotoxicity assays).
  • Experience with protein analytical methods (e.g., SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting).
  • Experience with sample processing methods to support protein and nucleic acid detection from a variety of tissue types.
  • Track record of developing technical methods and SOPs.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, data analysis software (e.g. Prism, JMP, SoftMax Pro), and other applications.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
