The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 6-month contract at the Visual and Performing Arts Department at NIE.
Project Title: Preparing museum-wise art teachers: The role and impact of pre-service teacher education in Singapore
Project Introduction: Using a multiple-method research design the present research aims to advance knowledge on how Singaporean art teachers learn to use museums as part of their pre-service preparation and the effects of such preparation on their values, attitudes, feelings of self-efficacy, and newfound pedagogical understandings. An additional purpose of this study is to identify pre-service art teachers’ needs for both further pre-service training and ongoing in-service professional development. Ultimately, the findings of this study will be used to share knowledge aimed at improving art teacher preparation in museum use at NIE and other institutions of higher education.
Requirements:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field.
- Prior experience in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Prior experience in conducting literature reviews are preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal Investigator with the analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Conduct literature searches and literature reviews on topics related to the research.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.
