(A) Job Summary:
The Research Engineer assists General Managers and team members in performing duties in researching, coordinating, planning, scheduling, engineering, and writing reports for new technology development projects of Obayashi Construction-Tech Lab Singapore (OCLS).
(B) Essential Job Functions:
The Research Engineer is responsible, but not limited to, the following:
- Be involved in the new technology development project processes of OCLS in performing duties in researching, coordinating, planning, scheduling, engineering, and writing reports.
- Coordinate and discuss with other companies, incl Obayashi Asia Pacific Regional Head Quarter (OC APRHQ), Obayashi Singapore Private Limited (OSPL) and other Obayashi`s group companies.
- Schedule and manage other staff in the department to meet milestones.
- Attend meetings with other companies, institutes or public agencies at OC APRHQ and OSPL or other locations.
- Participate in new technologies testings in the office and/or at sites, learn to use them, and introduce to others.
- Attend overseas business trips for face-to-face meetings and other duties.
- Attend lectures at educational institutes, research institutes or other companies for the purpose of searching and developing new technologies.
- Coordinate and communicate Japanese headquarters (in Japanese) to ensure effective progress and support for projects
(C) Minimum Qualifications/ Job Experience:
- Bachelor/Master Degree in Building Engineering, Robotics Engineering, 3D Printing Engineering or its equivalent, preferably recognized by Professional Engineers Board of Singapore.
- Proficient in MS Office, Microsoft Project, Autodesk Revit & Build.
- At least 5 years of working experience in related field.
- At least 1 year of working experience in Building /Civil Construction Project.
- Preferably at least 1 year or working experience in 3D printing construction.
- High level of competence in the use of BIM related software.
- Comfortable with overseas business travel when required.
- Comfortable with attending lectures at educational institutes, research institutes or other firms when required.
- Fluent in Japanese and English including proficiency with subject matter terminology
(D) Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
- Being curious on new technologies in Built Environment.
- Strong searching skills.
- Quickly adapting new technologies and software.
- Having a keen awareness of social and environmental issues.
- Working knowledge of general Built Environment knowledge.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in English communication, preferable in Chinese and Japanese.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at one time.
- Ability to analyse and synthesize complex issues quickly.
- Able to work overtime and be on standby when required.
