Castlery is looking for a Lead, Product Creative Direction to join our Creative Team.
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Lead, Product Creative Direction to lead our design team and set the creative direction for our seasonal launches. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in furniture design, coupled with exceptional leadership and strategic thinking abilities. This role requires a deep understanding of design trends, market dynamics, and the ability to translate our brand essence into compelling furniture products that appeal to our target markets.
What you’ll be doing
Design Expertise:
- Lead the creative process from concept to completion, ensuring innovative and visually appealing furniture designs.
- Stay abreast of current design trends and integrate them into the company’s product offerings.
- Oversee the creation of design prototypes and provide guidance on aesthetic and functional improvements.
Leadership and Management:
- Inspire, mentor, and manage a team of designers and creative professionals.
- Delegate tasks effectively, provide constructive feedback, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality designs.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment within the design team.
Strategic Thinking:
- Align the company’s design vision with market trends, target audience preferences, and business goals.
- Identify opportunities for differentiation and competitive advantage within the furniture industry.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement long-term design strategies.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, marketers, and executives.
- Effectively communicate design concepts, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate collaboration across departments.
- Present design ideas and prototypes to stakeholders and gather input to refine products.
Brand Understanding:
- Ensure all designs reflect the company’s brand identity, values, and target market.
- Develop furniture designs that resonate with customers and align with the overall brand strategy.
- Maintain consistency in design language and visual aesthetics across all product lines.
Technical Knowledge:
- Apply basic understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and technical constraints in furniture production.
- Ensure designs are not only visually appealing but also feasible to produce.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to ensure design integrity throughout the manufacturing process.
Trend Awareness:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in furniture design, interior design, and consumer preferences.
- Anticipate and incorporate emerging trends into the company’s designs while maintaining a unique and distinctive style.
- Conduct market research and analyze competitor products to inform design decisions.
Portfolio and Experience:
- Present a diverse portfolio showcasing a range of design projects and successful product launches or collaborations within the furniture industry.
- Demonstrate evidence of creative vision, innovative thinking, and the ability to bring products to market successfully.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in furniture design, with a proven track record in a creative leadership role.
- Strong portfolio showcasing innovative and aesthetically pleasing furniture designs.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of market trends and consumer preferences.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Basic technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and production constraints.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, and other relevant tools.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (spoken and written).
- Ability to relocate to Singapore and travel as needed.
