Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
• Add value to the Business Performance and Analytics, Planning, Budgeting for Financing and Securities Services
• Provide analytical support with respect to new business initiatives related to product and regional expansion, acquisitions and digital offerings.
• Assist in the strategic direction, evaluation of business strategy and business plans by geography, product and customer segment.
• Analyse complex deal structure with respect to accounting, profitability and revenue trajectory
• Support regional Finance team across the world with respect to both FP&A and control activities
• Delivery on reporting/analytical needs of the FM business.
• Analyse business from growth and return perspective and address issues where required
• Supporting the business in managing costs and driving performance management with an independent finance view.
• Enhance the Financial Control environment and ensure that there is continuous improvement in existing processes, infrastructure, and capabilities

Strategy
• Provide financial input and co-ordinate the formulation of the finance view to support business operating plans/budget and monitor progress towards its achievement, drawing attention to important trends, risks and opportunities to maximise earnings and minimise risk.

Key Responsibilities

Processes
• Ensure adherence to the Financial Controls Policies, Group Accounting Policies and management recognition principles.
• Ensure that the business complies with capital, regulatory and statutory accounting requirements.
• Ensure that there is a consistency in mappings, product codes, accounting/booking principles across markets.
• The integrity of all financial data, the pro-active financial management of the Bank by the provision of accurate, up-to-date and relevant information in reporting systems.
• The building of FM operating plans, budgets and forecast and enhancing analytics.
• Ensuring compliance to Group standards, regulatory and statutory regulations.
• Maintenance of appropriate financial and project controls from the regional standpoint.
• Initiate change requests necessary to deliver on change requirements

Risk Management
• Sound financial controls environment maintaining robust controls and monitoring procedures that prevent surprises.
• Monitor compliance with all reporting requirements i.e. no breaches of the requirements e.g. capital adequacy ratios.
• Quality and timeliness of reports, budgets, forecasts, flash, month-end reports, etc
• Level of queries/corrections to submitted reports.
• Key role in the development and maintenance of the sound financial management of the bank and in the mitigation of financial risks
• Contributes to the achievement of the Bank's performance objectives
• Contributes to the projection of the correct image to Shareholders, Customers and Regulators.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate

• A university degree in Accounting and professional qualification in Accounting and Finance e.g. ACCA, CA or CIMA.
• Experience in FP&A and performance management
• A post graduate degree e.g. MBA would be an added advantage.
• 10+ years work experience in a busy financial reporting department of a commercial organisation.
• A sound knowledge of the Group Accounting practice and all round Banking experience.
• High level of experience in working with computerised Accounting/Banking systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a busy and strenuous environment.
• Broad understanding of banking practice and ability to communicate with a wide spectrum of staff including senior members of staff.
• An eye for detail and accuracy with a strong analytical capability.
• Superior level of computer literacy is required
