The Hydraulic/Hydrologic Engineer will be responsible for hydrology and hydraulic modelling, flood mitigation strategy, designing hydraulic elements, and report preparation. The role requires proficiency in engineering theories, coordinating with the CAD team to producing sketches, and review of designs. The candidate must collaborate with multidisciplinary staff, execute tasks within budget and schedule.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic planning and framework as well as engineering solutions for the management of stormwater drainage, coastal and flood protection/mitigation measures, environmental and sustainability.
- Carry out data analysis and benchmarking to support analysis, modelling and simulation.
- Analyse topographic surveys, hydrological studies, geological, geotechnical and soil investigation studies, as well as other predesign studies.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, GIS mapping, stormwater drainage, sustainable urban drainage systems, climate change resilience, coastal management, flood risk assessment and integrated water management.
- Conduct erosion and sediment control/scour protection design, flooding assessment/ flood plain maps definition, and stream restoration projects, watercourse diversions, ponds design.
- Establish basis of design, preparing design reports, technical calculations, specifications, engineering sketches for drafting works, and organizing the submission of drawings and reports.
- Oversee the delivery of the design reports and drawings for infrastructure projects for different project stages of masterplan, preliminary, detailed design and construction support.
- Review designs and mark up drawings to ensure adherence to quality control requirements, including QA/QC checklists procedures for drafting production.
- Demonstrate good organization skills, able to do supervision for graphic production and some management skills are appreciated.
- Understand the project scope of works and project requirements and prepare list of data collection needed, project queries, responses to Client comments and site RFIs.
- Attend project meetings with Project Teams, Subconsultants and the Client.
- Project Coordination with the Project teams handling the urban design/planning, utilities and infrastructure works.
- Prepare Presentations to the Client and Stakeholders.
- Ensure project compliance with local and international codes and standards, government regulations as well as the Client requirements.
- Support business development and commercial managers team in analysing RFPs, preparing techno-commercial bids, presentations, and negotiations for urban infrastructure projects.
- Coach, train, and mentor junior engineers.
About you:
- Master’s Degree or higher in Environmental Engineering / Civil Engineering or the equivalent.
- At least 9 years of relevant experience in Hydrology, Hydraulic and Storm Water Drainage (offsite drainage, urban drainage, road drainage, etc.)
- Robust knowledge of the sustainability and environmental practices worldwide.
- Strong knowledge in using Microsoft Office applications, Hydrology & Hydraulic design software (SewerGEMS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, SWMM or similar software), AutoCAD, Civil 3D etc.
- Familiar with Programming (MATLAB and VBA) and different applications of stormwater drainage, coastal and flood protection, environmental and sustainability management.
- Technical report writing, preparing and delivering presentations.
