Job Summary:
The Logistics Officer is responsible for the management and coordination of logistics operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods, materials, and products from suppliers to customers. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The Logistics Officer will work closely with suppliers, transportation companies, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of products and materials.
Responsibilities:
1. Logistics Planning and Coordination:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Coordinate with suppliers, transportation companies, and internal departments to plan and execute the movement of goods.
- Monitor and manage the flow of goods, including inventory levels, order status, and delivery schedules.
2. Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and ensure that stock levels are sufficient to meet demand.
- Coordinate with the warehouse team to manage inventory, track stock movements, and conduct regular inventory audits.
- Implement inventory control procedures to minimize losses and optimize stock levels.
3. Transportation Management:
- Arrange and oversee the transportation of goods, ensuring that shipments are delivered on time and in good condition.
- Negotiate contracts with transportation companies and manage relationships with carriers and freight forwarders.
- Monitor and optimize transportation costs, ensuring efficient use of resources.
4. Supply Chain Management:
- Work with suppliers to ensure that materials and products are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
- Manage the procurement of goods, including sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply and effective communication.
5. Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare and maintain all necessary shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and customs documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including import/export laws, transportation safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor and report on logistics performance, including delivery times, costs, and service levels.
6. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:
- Address and resolve any issues that arise during the transportation, storage, or delivery of goods.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory records, shipping documentation, or delivery schedules.
- Develop and implement solutions to improve logistics efficiency and reduce costs.
7. Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, transportation costs, and inventory levels.
- Analyze logistics data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide recommendations to management on how to optimize logistics operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Knowledge of logistics software and tools.
