Subject Knowledge and Methodological Competence
· Demonstrates the necessary subject knowledge and methodological strategies to effectively support Science teachers during lab sessions.
· Provides students with structure and support in a safe laboratory environment to enable them to conduct experiments carefully and ethically.
· Assists the science teachers in demonstrations, instructing students and safety matters relating to the science laboratory during practical lessons
· Supports the science teachers with procuring the necessary laboratory resources required for practical lessons
· Maintains an efficient system for the use and allocation of materials and equipment, setting a priority system where necessary.
· Guides students on design of Internal assessments.
· Develops laboratory safety procedures and ensures compliance during practical lessons.
· Develops experimental and investigative scientific skills including the use of current technologies
· Develops an ability to analyse, evaluate and synthesize scientific information
· Applies and uses a body of knowledge, methods and techniques that characterize science and technology.
· Oversees cleanliness of lab apparatus and premises.
· Refills reagent bottles as required to ensure sufficient supply for practical lessons.
· Keeps all exposed equipment after use, including replacing Bunsen burners and other apparatus to ensure the science laboratory is organized and orderly
Organizational Competence:
· Ensures the safety of students at all times.
· Issues and retrieves apparatus/glassware for practical lessons
· Develops maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment
· Develops and implements measures for safe handling/storage/disposal of hazardous substances in accordance with relevant regulations
· Responsible for approved capital expenditure in the Science department for laboratory use in conjunction with the Science Head of Department
· Keeps accurate records of purchases / incoming orders and maintains inventory of equipment.

· Reflects regularly on the development of personal and professional capabilities.
· Develops an understanding of the relationships between scientific disciplines and their influence on other areas of knowledge.
Focussed on effective teamwork and collaboration
· Collaborates with teachers to share new ideas, teaching approaches, content and professional knowledge.
· Supports Science Teachers with STEM initiatives and activities.
Interpersonal Competence:
· Creates an atmosphere of trust by dealing with students in a positive and open way.
· Ensures open communication channel and coordination with all teachers.
