Glencore Singapore Pte Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Glencore International Plc. and engages in commodity trading, the Singapore office employs approximately 230 staff working from a single site.
We are seeking a self-motivated, commercially oriented and driven individual who can demonstrate a sound understanding of fundamental analysis, commercial acumen, risk assessment and management in the context of a commodities trading environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Candidates should also be data oriented and have an aptitude for numbers.
This role would suit a well-rounded analytics professional with strong quantitative and statistical skills together with previous industry experience. This demanding role is deeply involved in the day-to-day trading activities of the oil desk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide commercial support for the activities of the desk. This may include:
- Production of analysis or working with the desk analyst team to provide information which supports decision making.
- Assisting traders and senior traders in managing the desk or book’s position and pricing.
- Coordination with the operations team to manage physical movement of product.
- Ensuring the timely booking of trades and maintenance of trade blotters.
- Involvement in ad-hoc structured projects to develop Glencore’s business.
- Coordinating activity with trader assistants in other offices to ensure a transparent and timely flow of data and reporting.
- In certain circumstances execute trades under the direct supervision and instruction of a more senior trader. This execution would be for and on behalf of a book of risk managed by the other trader
- Set high standards of conduct, compliance, ethics, risk management and control. Promote adherence to Glencore’s policies and procedures.
