Position Summary
The incumbent will provide support to the Manager, INFSVC, assisting with IT infrastructure services strategies and managing infrastructure-related issues that directly or indirectly impact business performance. This includes evaluating, conceptualizing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting IT infrastructure systems. The role also involves achieving short-term operational targets within the INFSVC division, with a fair degree of autonomy to review and improve work processes. Additionally, the incumbent may guide junior-level staff within a defined job area.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration
- Administer and maintain systems in a heterogeneous environment (production, DR, test) comprising Oracle and Wintel-based servers.
- Perform system upgrades and enhancements on IT infrastructure components.
- Implement operating system and product-specific security hardening and patches.
- Monitor the obsolescence of IT infrastructure components (systems).
- Monitor expiry and renew system passwords and certificates.
- Ensure system backups for data recoverability and business continuity.
- Execute disaster recovery plans for IT infrastructure (systems) and conduct regular disaster recovery testing and switchover exercises.
- Manage the application User Acceptance Test (UAT) and maintain the UAT environment.
Incident & Problem Management
- Provide 2nd level system support and resolve incidents and problems per established Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Diagnose incidents, propose, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
Change & Release Management
- Schedule and release system changes to production environments following change management processes and procedures.
- Support application deployment for application changes as per release notes.
Configuration Management
- Maintain the configuration information of IT infrastructure components in the production environment.
Capacity & Performance Management
- Monitor infrastructure capacity and report monthly.
- Monitor and perform performance tuning to optimize system performance when needed.
Process Management
- Develop and implement processes supporting IT service management, aligning with corporate security policies and guidelines.
Project Management & Support
- Provide infrastructure (system) support for projects in line with project timelines.
- Manage infrastructure enhancement/upgrade projects per established project management guidelines.
Documentation
- Develop and maintain technical and process documentation to support IT infrastructure when required.
Requirements
Academic Criteria & Professional Certification
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Oracle Certified System Administrator certification (Optional).
- RHEL Certified System Administrator certification (Optional).
Experience and Technical Skills
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in system administration and support on Unix and/or RHEL.
- Experience in performing OS hardening and patching for Unix and/or RHEL.
- Experience with VMWare technologies.
- Proficiency in scripting for Unix and/or RHEL environments to automate tasks (including Python and YAML scripting).
- Experience in administration and support of SAN (Optional).
- Experience with backup & management software (Optional).
- Experience in middleware (e.g., IBM MQ, IBM Connect Direct, JBoss Web Server) (Optional).
- Experience with management and automation software (Satellite, Ansible) (Optional).
