Purpose of Role
The Agile Practitioner (AP) models Chubb’s digital-first approach, working closely with the Domain and Subdomain Lead (DL/SDL), Product Owner (PO) and squad members to coach them to effectively execute our ways of working, using the relevant methodologies and tools. They teach through a combination of structured learning and hands-on execution, upskilling squads to operate autonomously and scaling their expertise across multiple squads. They shepherd the squad through quarterly delivery cycles, using QBR and QRP as cornerstones and setting up the vision, roadmap, design and deployment to continuously deliver value per the OKRs. They coach the squad to define effective OKRs based on the vision, translate them into clear, specific and aligned EPICs and user stories, collaborate to optimize delivery to the requirements and track progress and adjust iteratively.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Function as a key partner to DLs and POs in driving squads progress towards business outcomes with focus on value added delivery capabilities in incremental and iterative cycles
- Coach the squad through the quarterly delivery cycle, using the QBR and QRP processes. Specifically, they coach the squad to define effective objectives based on the Domain mission, translate them into clear, specific squad key results and align them to product backlog and roadmaps with focus on enhancing ways of working
- Provide coaching support on areas including:
- Understanding the product vision and roadmap with focus on outcome-based coaching in alignment with OKRs and domain mission.
- Writing EPICs and user stories which are right-sized with clearly articulated requirements and clear success/acceptance criteria so minimal rework is required
- Effectively setting up and running team and domain level ceremonies to deliver iteratively, with clear ownership for work that meet business outcomes
- Measuring & monitoring performance tying back to OKRs, adjusting efforts as needed
- Effectively identifying, documenting and monitoring dependencies, risks and issues, and working with relevant stakeholders to mitigate or resolve
- Work closely with POs and squad members to establish and increase fluency in key methodologies and tools – agile, Jira, Mural and others as needed
- Set up and facilitate retrospectives to continuously identify improvement opportunities (process, collaboration, etc.) in executing our ways of working
- Drive adoption and scaling of digital-first ways of working, leading through influence and continuously looking for opportunities to improve
- Continuously bring working knowledge of insurance and the domain to guide the development of innovative and effective solutions
- Monitor external best practices and evaluate opportunities to improve our ways of working
- Work closely with POs and squad members to optimize value across the delivery lifecycle by role-modelling and coaching the team to eventually “do it themselves” well
Skills & Experience
Functional Competencies:

- High level of organization and attention to detail with ability to piece together multiple moving parts

Technical Competencies:
- Experience in agile development, as a digital product owner, product manager, or highly experience scrum master with 5+ years’ experience successfully delivering digital products
- Knowledge of Agile software development process (e.g., XP, Kanban, Scrum, etc.)
- Knowledge and/or experience with Agile techniques (e.g., user stories, test-driven dev.)
- Deep knowledge of insurance, finance or retail services value chain, particularly in aligned domain
- End-to-end digital product management lifecycle experience; preferably in insurance
- Strong knowledge of product management tools including Jira and Mural
- Fundamental knowledge of software development
Education:
- Agile coach or other agile certifications (CSM, ICE-AC, ICP-ACC, PSM I, PSM II, SAFe)
- MS/BS degree in computer science, software development, or business
OR
- Background in business, technology, product development and managementAn individual who can negotiate and influence specific interventions without platitudes or generalities, citing specific positive impact of those interventions in a clear and compelling way
